You mean the same owner who permitted his knucklehead POBO to hire 3 managers in a row who had nary a lick of managing experience and then claimed winning was important to the organization? Oh yeah, there is a way alright.
Yes….see my disclaimer….
Let’s say I’m the General Counsel of a mid-sized company and I want to hire a #2 person. Do I go to the local law school and pick out a recent grad? That’s crazy stuff, yet Moe did it 3 times. The insecure little pric k.
I almost guarantee Mo/BDW thought They were the reason for most of the success under TLR/Dunc/Pujols…..and the arrogant phucks ran off TLR and set on a plan to run everything from POBO box with puppet managers…..been saying this for years.

MO is POBO
Girsch is VP of Special Projects (former GM)
Bloom is Special Adviser set to become POBO.

Who is the current GM? Is MO POBO and GM?
Actually , Mo is both .. his adjusted title Pres. Ops GM Ops ..acronym is POGO .... Fits perfectly as he bounces up and down between the two roles ! :D

The benefits of Bloom having a big voice at the deadline are that I think he is a MUCH better talent evaluator, and it seems like he surrounds himself with smart people and listens to them. Up until the hiring of Bloom, Mo has not.
Bosox aren't doing well the 2 years after Bloom left. You would think that his plans would have went to fruition by now for Boston.

We know you want Bloom to fail here in the Lou. But I wouldn’t be shocked if you came a closer Red Sox fan that way any success they have from here you can just say “look how much better of they are without Bloom”

The days are dwindling for the Bow-t*rd exit, and it seems like you’re not any closer to accepting it

I always felt BDWJr would want C. Bloom making the decisions around the trading deadline since this will be his team going forward.

Made no sense to have Mo, other than in an advisory role, making future roster decisions that would affect the team after 2025.

Smart move handing the reins to Bloom earlier rather than waiting for seasons end. :D
It doesn’t sound like the trade deadline though, they’re talking August/September. I’m sure that Bloom will still have a major role in the deadline though.
I certainly hope so.

1. Arrogant
2. Lazy
3. Stubborn

The three pillars of Mo's reign.

What's lazy is the constant criticism of Mo's overall career. Yes it has moved the wrong direction these past few seasons but it is laughable when people say that Mo had nothing to do with the 2011 team or the subsequent successful teams. He was head of scouting when they drafted Pujols and Molina, and was instrumental in suggesting Chris Carpenter to be signed despite injury and was the main proponent of getting Adam Wainright in a trade. He was assistant GM and in charge of player development in the system in the mid 2000s.

Before he took over the scoutingvarea it's pretty easy to count the Cardinals prospects that had an impact on the team, or any team for that matter. He later developed the system of sustainable talent wanted by the owner, which bore fruit on these 2009 to 2015 teams. He scouted and signed Ryan Ludwick off the scrap heap who helped get us into the playoffs, and traded a nothing prospect for several years of a good Matt holiday and added players like Berkman and Beltran and a host of pitchers as needed to build good clubs.

So many important players on the 2011 team were either scouted, developed, or signed under Mozeliak that's it's laughable that people say he deserves no credit for that championship. And his team played and lost another WS in 2013 against the Red Sox just like Jocketty/LaRusss did in 2004. But I am proud of that team as rookies and young players dominated the pitching staff. I think they overachieved that year.

Yes the trend is down the last part of his Cardinal career and he will have to wear that, but underhis watch it looks like we have a decent crop of young players to build on.

I also have Mo fatigue but the hate and disrespect he gets on here are pretty lame. Larussa was great but to give him all the credit is silly, since he didn't win as much either with lesser players in the first few years of his tenure and 2007. He didnt devlop the players he properly used them. And Mo isnt the only Gzm to shy from powerful managers in the last few years, most teams do.

Mo and Jocketty have similar winning percentages and they each were in charge for a championships and league title. Mo deserves more respect for his body of work.

Good post, Bob. Sure the Cards have had several down years because of the backward movement of Goldy, Arenado, Walker, and Gorman, but some fans forget that the 4 full seasons before that the Cards won 93, 91, 90, and 88 games. The fact that the players didn’t win playoff games those seasons is on them.

You are quite insane if you think Mozoliak had nothing to do with the successful years around the 2011 WS Championship. He drafted and traded smart.
He has faltered the past few seasons, to be sure, but two things can be true at once.
Presuming of course you can keep two thoughts in your head simultaneously.
Which based on your posts may not be possible, so there's that.

To say nothing of the fact that the regular season isn't what matters, how can you say Walker and Gorman went "backward?" They're prospects that didn't pan out. Blaming failure on them is a bit much.

Correct. He was great, and has faltered greatly recently.

But pro sports is a "what have you done for me lately" endeavor, and Mo's boss is rewarding him for work he turned in 15 years ago. THAT'S what is so infuriating.

You guys want Mo out so badly you don't even realize how badly he tanked and ruined the Red Sox for years.

The Betts trade is still considered one of the worst trades of all time.

Theres a reason he was fired

The Cardinals won 88-93 games from 2018-2022. The fact that they didn't go far in the playoffs after successful seasons is on the players.
