It’s not even close who has been the more valuable pitcher. Weaver seemed like a good guy and it’s great he’s turned himself into a dominant reliever. But he never was as valuable as Flaherty.

But didn't Melville tell us that Dakota Hudson would have a far better career than Flaherty and was "the most irreplaceable player on the Cardinals?"

Did have an extensive conversation. After Luke was drafted, he was sent 500 balls to sign by the Cardinals. They sent him a check of $15,000 to do it. He felt that was ridiculous, and donated the $15,000 to charity. Again, he plays for the name on the front of the jersey, and for his teammates.
It’s why he has resiliency. He’s not all tied up in himself.

In his interviews he’s a little off beat. Nothing ominous just a little wierd at times. Could be he’s playing with the press with that persona. Maybe that what makes him good at closing also.
