Nothing it’s a reset. You must have patience. It’s a three year event. This is year one. By the time we get there, your fingers will have calloused over.

Agreed. We need a lot more of this, long-term.

Are you throwing in the towel for 2025? If so, then sure. If not, you're selling 2/5 of your rotation and two backend pieces of your bullpen for for bullpen help. Where does that then leave you? With maybe a better bullpen and a four man rotation?

Then take some of the prospects we have in our system and some you get in these trades and package them for a legit number 1 or 2 starter in the offseason who has some years of control. Bullpen would need an overhaul. But think about how exciting this team would be with Wetherholt added and a rotation of
Gray
Trade Acquisition
Libby,
McGreevy
Matthews
Pallante (if he isn’t part of the package to get a starter or reliever).

It would be a lottery ticket, but I would like to try Lou Bob for the OF. It wouldn’t take much, and if he had a good 2nd half, his contract has 2 years of $20 million club options, with a $2 million buyout.

Cards are a third into the season. Let's see how they do in June before making any big moves. Though I do think that McGreevy is ready as a starter. Both Roby and Matthews may also figure in on the last half of the season.

Whatever the FO does at deadline must be a joint decision of Mo And Bloom. At end of season, Bloom runs this team for the next 5 years.
To not have Bloom all in for deadline would be utterly foolish.
For example, you don’t want Mo to trade a good prospect that Bloom/Cerfolio expect to blossom for the major league roster .

Who is making the trade decision,Mo? If so do nothing. Just stay out of the way.

Mo?

NOTHING!

Keep him away from making any moves.

Bloom?

Bullpen help if in contention.

If out of contention, then deal Helsley, Fedde, Matz and Mikolas if he'll waive the NTC.

A 2019 second half Jack Flaherty. A shutdown ace that could almost by himself win a couple of playoff games. Love Pallante, Mikolas and Fedde for innings eating and regular season stuff but in the playoff against full strength playoff line ups, that doesn't seem like an advantage and a team that feels like an early exit in the postseason. It would be best if it could be a minor leaguer like Graceffo, Matthews or McGreevy.
definitely, we absolutely should acquire a second half Jack Flaherty, who had pretty much the second best SP half of a season of anyone in the history of the game other than Jake Arrieta. Should be available. Teams will definitely trade that to us. Shut down aces available a dime a dozen

Get real, everyone knows Orel Hershiser in 1988 was the greatest second half of all time. Dude set the record most consecutive scoreless innings in a row. Oh yeah, there is a bulldog out there somewhere that can take a somewhat average club not expected to do much with little star power, win an NLCS MVP and carry a club to the championship. Guys like Hershiser and Arrietta are out there if you can find them.
