If you are saying sign Bouchard for $9M a season for the next 7 years.... I'll have some of what you're smoking please!! Even at $7M that's still a bit of an overpay.. I could see a $6.5M/3yr 'Prove It' contract at this point.. Without the two gen players on this team he would be sooo exposed..seattleblue wrote: ↑23 May 2025 10:16 amAh, so in an absolute sense this RHD top 4 cornerstone can be had without paying a lot or giving up a lot of value, otherwise people are being ridiculous? I hear that! It sure is easy! You make a good point about how absolutely easy it is. Anyone who says it's not easy ... ridiculous ...Lone_Ranger wrote: ↑23 May 2025 08:46 am The idea that the Blues need to do something drastic on defense is ridiculous. Do they need to address the Defense? Yes. But do they need to give away picks in a deal, trade Kyrou, or offer big money in free agency? No, absolutely not.

I wasn't commenting one way or the other on Bouchard. just on the post itself.bluecalgary wrote: ↑23 May 2025 16:07 pmIf you are saying sign Bouchard for $9M a season for the next 7 years.... I asked you your plan the other day and you never answered it.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑23 May 2025 09:12 am Bouchard was selected in the first round, 10th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2018 NHL entry draft.
Does anybody need me to explain what the best way is to get a very good player? Please DM me if you need that counsel.

Power for me. Even if his ceiling is Parayko plus

It’s not about needing to do something drastic, but Vegas showed what can happen when you do. Just need the right guysLone_Ranger wrote: ↑23 May 2025 08:46 am The idea that the Blues need to do something drastic on defense is ridiculous. Do they need to address the Defense? Yes. Can you imagine Parayko, Power and Fowler for the next few years.

From what I heard Byram requested a trade.
If we could have a top 4 of Byram, CP55, Broberg and Cam that would be solid. One of them would have to play the right side but I bet they would figure it out! Otherwise we should go after Gavrikov

Bouchard has mediocre hockey sense, imo. He rarely hits and is not a committed shot blocker.
He reminds me of a highly skilled forward who has exasperated so many of us.

The problem is: You do NOT have your facts straight.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑23 May 2025 10:50 aminteresting facts:b-a-a-a-rclay wrote: ↑23 May 2025 09:21 am The Blues don't have the draft picks to sign anyone worth anything to an offer sheet. I am glad that they don't. Broberg and Holloway are better than draft picks.
Interesting fact ... the Red Wings have drafted in the top 10 in 7 out of the last 8 years. They haven't made the playoffs in 9 years. They have a #4 overall and 3 #6 overalls in that streak. This season they finished with 86 points.
All 4 2025 playoff teams have at least 1 long-time TOP5 pick on their roster.
Across 25 years, the MVP of the playoffs is almost always a TOP5 pick of the winning team.
The Blues have no TOP5 picks, and they haven't had one on the roster for 5 years.
Broberg and Holloway were successful high draft picks chosen by Edmonton that Army stole in a one-time-robbery. Don't ask Army how/when he will find more Brobergs and Holloways. He has NO IDEA. That is his operating model.
Now be quiet and sit still so that we can have a serious dialogue here.

With the Devils having Hamilton ($9m x 3yrs left); Pesce ($5.5m x 4yrs); and just signed Kovacevic ($4m x 4yrs) as their RHDman for awhile. Simon Nemec and Seamus Casey are suddenly now expendable assets. Wishlist for them impact wingers to strengthen their top six.
Seamus Casey is an interesting prospect.

I bet the try to move Dougie Hamilton. Casey Seamus would be the intriguing piece. I could see them going for Quinn Hughes but they ll need to cut money somewhere.thegibby. wrote: ↑24 May 2025 23:37 pm With the Devils having Hamilton ($9m x 3yrs left); Pesce ($5.5m x 4yrs); and just signed Kovacevic ($4m x 4yrs) as their RHDman for awhile.
