Hat tip to Arenado.
The right thing to do of course but still a lot of players won’t own up to it.

This sounds like self serving [nonsense] to me. He gets demoted in the line up but only because he is such a great human being and agreed to move down. I will be so glad when this boat anchor is gone.

Oli, just do the right thing and stop with virtue signaling nonsense….you look the fool
And if you don’t know what the obvious right thing is to WIN….then move on
It was NOT Arenado requesting the move according to Jimmy the Cat
Early in the game.
Scroll back to my reply to Ozziefan where I have verbatim of Hayes comments.

Oli told Nado He was putting him 6th.

Gorman is not the answer at 3rd. Gorman is proving to be another flash in the pan that many had high hopes on, and has failed to seize the moment. I wish him luck with his new future team. He is someone I see figuring it out later than normal and gets a couple of good years before injuries take over.

Regardless of who lit the fireworks, it probably plays out like this:
If Oli makes the move, it's what he should have done in the first place.
If Arenado makes it, it's leadership & sacrifice for the team. It shows the young players that everything is not always about them. This is the kind of little thing that may work out to be a big deal. It may end up being good for Arenado too, if his problems are truly in his head & he just needs a mental vacation.

That would hurt this defense, the team strength, in a bad way. I’ve seen Gorman’s attempts at those throws across the body that NA pulls off twice a game. He doesn’t have the balance, instincts, reflexes, arm accuracy, internal clock…and the list goes on. And while NA might be just a guy with the bat these days, Gorman has been less than a guy.

Gorman could still become a big bat and decent defender at some point and agree it would be the right move if we were losing. Maybe I’m too shortsighted, but it sure has been nice watching a winning team again.

More has come out about the 'move to 6th '. Oli and Arenado had 'multiple conversations' that started several days ago when the team went to KC for the 3-game series .
So as with most stories, there is more behind the scenes than people think.
Thought you may like to read more on what transpired .
Hope you can read this story.

One thing that seems obvious from the story is that Nado is quite frustrated that he cannot do better at the plate and does not know what can be done .
Many athletes experience the same thing as they get to their mid 30's , their brains know what to do to perform but their bodies no longer can respond like it did at age 25-29. Metrics of players show that is a pro baseball players peak years in performance .. about 25-29 years of age
Probably Arenado is experiencing what most all excellent performers do . All the effort in the world won't get that back. Arenado is giving good effort and he is respected for that . At his age, he stills play better than a lot of 3rd baseman in the MLB>

If trading Nado was that easy, he wouldn't be here.

Unless he heats up considerably Nado is likely here til the end. Owed way too much money for someone to be interested in a good field/light hitting 3B.

Team was surely hoping he'd jump out of the gate hot at the plate that would have made it easier to try and work a trade but it hasn't happened. He'll be fine going forward as a 6 or 7 hole guy with a great glove and I think that's what we will be stuck with.

I really hope so. This team looks like it’s jelling and has a chance to win. Ineffective players should be deprioritized.

Looks like many of us who have been calling for this for weeks got one right.

Just glad NADO didn't let his ego get in the way and went to Oli, who wouldn't do it on his own  , and told him he's okay being dropped behind WillyC and Ivan.

He turned down Astros and Angels deals in off-season.

But Philly, Yankees and LA Dodgers are in play, and he will go to any of those places.

Who would want him? No power, fails in most pressure spots, old, history of bad attitude, huge salary
