Very nice stretch and scoop by Willson!!
Never realized he could do the 'splits' so easily ... Very flexible guy .. A real plus at 1st base. I know Oquendo worked with him in Juppiter on his 1st base techniques etc. Would love to see a feature on all the things he worked on . Has done excellent job !
Nola is an ace too. Sonny outpitched him 9-7 .
Left with a 2 run lead for his team.
Neither pitcher particularly effective tonight, but I believe the Gray situation with the Cards is much better than Nola's is with the Phils. Gray is owed 25 million in 2025 and 65 mil more thru 2027, for a 90-mil for the 3-year contract.
Nola signed a 6-yr contract in 2024, for a whopping $147,428,574 bucks. Counting 2025, Phillies owe Nola 122,857,145 through 2030.

Its worth noting that contreras has played some 1b before over the years albeit not much(as well as corner outfield)
Also worth noting is that when contreras was drafted, he was originally a 3b in the early minors that the cubs converted to catcher.(he also played a couple minor league games at 2b at age 19).
So while it was forever ago, he used to be a 3b and he has got to play a few 1b innings over the years.

Gorman has a nice arm...that was a good play!
Agree ! Gorman has always had a legit 3rd baseman arm. He has that natural plus power too .. unfortunately has not developed his overall hitting ability.

Not that it'll ever happen, but if the Cards wanted to bring in the fences at Busch, do they have to get league permission or do they just do it write a letter to MLB indicating why?
They have to do it before the season starts, but I think the dimension changes must be OK'd by the league.
if they would ok that stupid/dangerous Tal's Hill at Minute Maid I'm sure they would ok almost anything
I agree, that was dangerous and should not have been approved.
Haha! I forgot that was actually a real thing for a while. That was taking the "classic baseball" feel a few steps too far.
