Why didn't you vote for Arquette if he's your pick? The only reason I ask is Arquette has Zero Votes.
I like Arquette because of his size, power potential, and overall athleticism. And his right handed bat.
One of the best hitters in the draft. And as said, would move him to an OF corner.
did you finally submit your Vote for Arquette? Or did you vote from someone else originally ?

:D
I limited my vote to someone I thought might be available at #5.
They all "might" be available at number 5. Who knows.
I don’t think there’s any way that Holliday will be there. MLB.com has Arquette as the #5 draft prospect. The Athletic has him at #4. I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten more votes on here. Maybe it’s because he’s a SS and Winn has that position sewed up for years to come. My thought is to have him coming through the system as an OF replacement for Walker if things don’t pick up for him. Arquette is supposed to be one of the best college bats, and possibly the best all around college position player in the draft.
Agree with you and your rationale
on this one. He should have 2 votes at least.

I'd keep him in the dirt myself. It's not like 1B or 3B are locked up. Devin Taylor similar reasons if there in the 2nd.

I'm a big Devin Taylor fan....he can hit...proved that in HS, College, and Summer Circuit with Wooden bats. We'd be extremely lucky to get him at 55 in the 2nd round

If the Cardinals are fortunate enough to get either Hernandez or Arnold. That would be the pick. If they aren't available. Don't be be surprised if the pick at 5 is LaViolette. He has tremendous slug potential as an outfielder need for the Cardinals.

Honestly, unless it's just something totally off the wall, I can't really argue with anyone the Cardinals pick. They spend millions of dollars on scouting. There is lots to like about virtually all these top guys. I'm sure they'll pick one of the names that gets a lot of these votes. And yes, there's always the chance that they might bust. I absolutely loved the JJ Whetherholt pick, but he could bust. But I'll be cool with whoever they pick in the end.

That said, if I'm picking from the heart, I want that Holliday pick most of all. Come on, how could you not love that story if he were to become a Cardinal?

The other heart picks would probably be Hernandez or LaVaViolette. I'd love to develop a stud ace high school pitcher or get that power hitting OFer we keep missing on. Not that Arnold is not a heart pick, he would be a great pick, but maybe not the upside I'd want.

Yes we would. Weird happens. Pitchers and HS moves this and he while not being hidden, isn't coming out of a baseball hotbed.

Baseball drafts aren't like the others except maybe the NHL.

I was looking at this years similar to Cranny, don't tell him. The Cards could easily go pitcher here. IMO they can't let a pitcher they'er
in love with pass them at #5 and they do need some infusion of a bat. So I have been looking at bats that in a dream could drop. Taylor has
some negatives, he's probably a LF due to athleticism. But as you know, his set up, balance, approach is better than a couple on our 26.

What if your scouts say the rankings are wrong and the 8th ranked pitcher ends better than the first ranked pitcher?

It does happen...
The 8th ranked pitcher may very well be available in the 2nd round. Why not take both?
What if the 8th ranked guy is your number one guy? Gotta take him because if you don't, someone else might.
Where was Mike Trout ranked? Where did he end up. Gotta trust your scouts and people you pay, as a team, to make these decisions.
what if your scouts just fell in love with the wrong guy - that's more likely than picking out a Mike Trout?

If you don't trust your scouts, fire them and hire new ones. Who you going to trust...your team of scouts or a writer from USA Today who did a ranking?

Yes, your scouts could be wrong. So could the guys who rank prospects.

That's another thing. Ranked by who? I'm assuming these teams, led by their multi-million dollar scouting departments, have their own rankings.

It would be amazing if Holliday dropped into our lap like JJ did last year.

It's doubtful, but stranger things have happened.

A run on pitchers and then a team falls in love with a position player other than Holliday.

Probably not, but I wouldn't be shocked either....
