8 in a row?

Re: 8 in a row?
soon enough the cards will lose a few games and the haters will be back out in force to tell us how awful they are and how dreadful everything is...the cards are not the dodgers but they sure arent the disaster people here make them out to be
Re: 8 in a row?
I think we got two wins against Mets in DH and swept two pretty bad teams. Not being negative but just shows me we are more middle of the pack and not at bottom. But exciting to watch.

Re: 8 in a row?
I highly doubt they sweep or it'll be difficult to even win the series in Philly. If they get through that without a loss, well that would be substantial.
A loss is probably a good thing because a prolonged winning streak will garner national attention and raise expectations which could defeat the carefree attitude they're excelling under right now.
Above all, this streak p*sses me off, because Oli is finally managing like a real manager and not playing Oliball.
-starters are staying until it's clear they need to come out, not when Oli's "script" says it's time
-relievers are used as sparingly as possible, thus preserving arms until needed
-the lineup is no longer musical chairs from top to bottom every single game. The main core is playing almost every game
Had he simply applied these 3 basic rules the last 2 years, things could have gone much differently.
Oh well...

Re: 8 in a row?
Always second guessing. How about a stretch where our stars weren't winning the MVP?blackinkbiz wrote: ↑11 May 2025 16:44 pm I highly doubt they sweep or it'll be difficult to even win the series in Philly. If they get through that without a loss, well that would be substantial.

I understand you have this infatuation with me that you fill by following me around, but you should know, I like the ladies.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑11 May 2025 16:50 pmPerfect example of someone who claims to be a Cards fan, but wants them to fail.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑11 May 2025 16:44 pm I highly doubt they sweep or it'll be difficult to even win the series in Philly. Re: 8 in a row?
If they go 4-2 on the rest of this roadtrip, it begins to feel more real, like maybe a legit division contender. .500 wouldn’t be too shabby either considering strength of competition in the next two series. If they can at least keep pace during the Cubs soft portion of their schedule then the head-to-head matchups get very interesting. Might have the closest feel to playoff baseball we’ve felt in a few years. I’m guessing they show they are better than their early road record suggests.
Re: 8 in a row?
memo to people here..managers make very little difference..we chased shildt out of town and went to the padres and all of a sudden he is a genius..joe torre was a run of the mill manager until he went to the yanks and now he is a hall of fame manager...oli is likely a run of the mill manager who will win if the team hits and pitches and lose if they dont...do we think dave roberts is some kind of genius because he manages a team of hall of famers or that if we replaced oli with roberts the cards would magically be winning 100 games?

Re: 8 in a row?
1. Isn't it possible to be unhappy with the record or the direction of the franchise and NOT be a hater?
2. Well, this is St Louis, not Pittsburgh. The standards are higher here.
3. Maybe not a disaster, but our last playoff series win was 2019. Isn't it possible that fans are hungry for success again?
