Oli going for wins. Haven’t seen to many “get away game” lineups. Pushing the right buttons early in the year.

The 3:05 are good as they take me to hockey.

Would love to see the sweep.
But no, this should not be the regular lineup since in the vast majority of games the face a RH starter.
Other than Winn and Contreras, the roster lacks proven quality RH hitters in their prime which can make the team vulnerable against high end LH pitchers like Gore.
There is a lot of room for improvement.

Could be a rough day for him.
He has been awful on the road this year
1.61 WHIP, 4.82 ERA, a massive 25 hits in 18.2 innings, just 8 K's in 4 starts, and averaging barely 4 innings per start.
Nationals are top 6 in runs and top 7 in OPS across MLB this season.
Not an ideal matchup against Gore.

Granted the idea is to give these guys leeway. But starting gorman walker over saggese when he was up here and starting them now over barrero isnt necessarily going for wins in my opinion

I feel Gore to be an issue. 2-3 with a 3.33 era and 1.15 WHIP.
Has given 5 hits or less last four starts. Has issued 6 walks same time, so about two walks per game.

Has given up 4 runs or less. Has pitched 6.0 in four of last five starts, four of which were on the road.

K’s about ten per six innings.

Look for a 3-4 run game with some strikeouts.

Oli is in a tough spot with playing the youth and going for wins. I think in a perfect world he would be using your scenario

It's understandable that Saggese needs regular at bats. However, Saggese should be getting as many ABs, right now, for the Cardinals as Walker and Gorman. For winning now and for the reset. Maybe somebody else needs to be at Memphis, right now, instead of Saggese. IMO

Tough young lefty starting for Nats, perfect day for Contreras, Arenado, and Herrera to do some major damage. Maybe even Walker can catch a cripple and crush it........

Saggese is a RH hitting infielder.
Neither Gorman (LH hitter) nor Walker (outfielder) are preventing him from taking PA's an the major league level.
Arenado is.

Arenado is.
Arenado, primarily. But so is Gorman. Saggese is fine against RHP. Overall, Saggese might just be as productive, offensively, as Arenado at this point. But in a divisional race, Arenado's 3B defense is needed.
