Good position?
The real contenders need SP and this is the perfect time to move the older pitchers Fedde Mikolas Matz and Gray and rebuild for the future. That being said who would you target? I like Mayo from the Orioles. Fills the 3B hole when we trade Nolan. One of the trades needs to bring back a young future closer. And I would like a younger SP to add in the mix with Pallante Matthew’s Libertore and McGreevy.
Re: Good position?
The orioles are a great team to target -- full of upside young talent that currently isn't playing well.
Re: Good position?
Gray has a NTC and indicated in the off-season he didn’t want to be traded. Has his position changed?

Right. We're hitting on pretty much all cylinders, have the bullpen playing well, starters doing great, and only 2 games behind the Cubbies. So let's trade.

Re: Good position?
You see on here so often people saying trade him, trade him, trade him as their value is deteriorating, but when their value is building we can't see our way clear to let them go. Let them go.

Eh, I'm not so sure I'd want a trade to focus on a closer. First of all, I'd rather focus on getting back a starter or position player. Second, I'd rather develop my closer from within. Third, looks like the organization is grooming Graceffo for that role.

Thankfully, FO's generally wait until they're almost certain all their fake wins belong to a "real contender" before a season's lost and unloading whatever vets they can for prospects. Because those 20,000 empty red pieces of plastic littered around the stadium, they're going to multiply if this team completely gives up on fake wins and lets the "real contenders" take them.Youboughtit wrote: ↑10 May 2025 18:43 pm The real contenders need SP and this is the perfect time to move the older pitchers Fedde Mikolas Matz and Gray and rebuild for the future. And no income means no FA signings at all means longer re-build-tool-whatever.

Re: Good position?
This team is NOT a contender. Matz Mikolas and Helsley are pending FA and Aranado is clearly not going to be here next season. There are so many holes to fill for the future how do you plan on doing it when spending is not an option? Holding pat would be the dumbest decision MO has ever made and that says alot. Bullpen is NOT playing well. The last 4 starters have went 7+ innings. They are bypassing the bullpen. Selling high is the smart move and I beleive teams that trade early will get the best results like last year. Waiting till deadline lessens the return.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:28 pmNo kidding. Nobodies making significant trades in MayhugeCardfan wrote: ↑10 May 2025 19:34 pm Right. For Matz or Mikolas who are pending FA a hard throwing bullpen arm would be a stealRonnie Dobbs wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:00 pm Eh, I'm not so sure I'd want a trade to focus on a closer. If you're not winning, why do you want a closer?Youboughtit wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:56 pmFor Matz or Mikolas who are pending FA a hard throwing bullpen arm would be a stealRonnie Dobbs wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:00 pm Eh, I'm not so sure I'd want a trade to focus on a closer. The Cardinals have no back of the pen power arms in the minors. Someone has to pitch late in games for next few years.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:57 pmIf you're not winning, why do you want a closer?Youboughtit wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:56 pmFor Matz or Mikolas who are pending FA a hard throwing bullpen arm would be a stealRonnie Dobbs wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:00 pm Eh, I'm not so sure I'd want a trade to focus on a closer. Why does waiting till the deadline lessen the return??Youboughtit wrote: ↑10 May 2025 20:55 pmThis team is NOT a contender.
