Since the start of the 2016 season, Fedde's game tonight was the 10th complete game shutout for a Cardinals pitcher.
What happened to Tudor's arm?
Nothing. He started game 7 of the World Series,

Like Koufax and Drysdale a few years after Koufax their arms were shot as was Tudor's.

1985 was Tudor's career year. Also pitched 275 innings with a 1.93 era. In 19 out of 20 years, he would have won a Cy Young, but that dern flash in the pan 20 year old Dwight Gooden just pitched a smidgen better than he did.

Pitching was on a totally different level in the 1980s.

Won't be anyone throwing 275 innings in the immediate future.

I've been tough on Fedde so it's only fair to give him props for the performance last night. Well done!

drysdale started pitching at 19 and pitched 14 seasons...as a comparison waino started pitching in the majors and 24 and didnt start until he was 25....if a pitcher today starts out at 24 and pitches 14 seasons I think we would all say he had a great career...sorry but there are so many examples of guys pitching 300 innings a year and pitching until they are 40 as well as guys who got injured early...seems pretty obvious to me that today guys throw fewer innings on pitch counts and get hurt more....I think nolan ryan is correct that pitchers today do not throw enough innings...certainly if you throw 100 mph on every pitch you are going to limit innings and likely get hurt

Tudor's arm wasn't shot. He had a 1.59 ERA in the post season until game 7, which was his second straight start on 3 days rest. If you are trying to make a point, man up and make it. Stop making up side stories as inference.
