When Herrera Comes Back...

Post by Bake21 »

A few weeks ago this might have been a no brainer. But now I'm not so sure. Could the Cardinals actually consider keeping Pozo on the 26 man and sending out Baker.

Keeping 3 catchers with a 5 man bench seems redundant but if you think about it, it does make some sense. Pozo is obviously a pretty good hitter. He could take DH at bats against lefties. And defensively Baker isn't getting much time at 1B which is the only place he plays. This also would free up Herrera to be a DH and you would still have a backup catcher available.

I like Baker, he has done all he can in AAA, but he is in a tough spot. It's hard to get a rythym sitting as much as he does.
