Re: Hopefully that was Kyrou’s last game as a Blue
You can have Kyrou or Buchnevich. But you simply can't have both of them on the same team.
Kyrou IS PAID TO BE A SUPERSTAR.
With Jets down to 5 D, Kyrou had multiple opportunities to land a body - but he did a fly by. And we all know he's skittish..
At the end of the day, if Kyrou can't fight through ONE round ... can you legitimately ask him to play through / FIGHT through 4 rounds?
Anybody who was surprised by the outcome just wasn't paying attention. Blues were down to 2 lines that were getting anything done .. and frankly it seemed like the WTF line was getting double shifted because they were the most consistent.
With a healthy Holloway and Snuggerud, the Blues can afford to trade puff nuts and get a pretty decent haul for him. Send him to San Jose or Anaheim to play pond hockey.

I’m going to wait to hear what all injuries players were playing with before I decide just how much I disliked Kyrou’s game this series and what I think of him going forward.

A -8 over his last two playoff trips, 10gs in 19 GP that aint too shabby. Every team has injuries now not to make an excuse but the way the Blues forward roster is constructed, thin, with young players losing Holloway really really hurt the mix in my view. Still, 1.6 seconds, bounce goes another way, Buchy makes a better play, a clean face off, and we are in the next roundSTL fan in MN wrote: ↑05 May 2025 12:44 pm I’m going to wait to hear what all injuries players were playing with before I decide just how much I disliked Kyrou’s game this series and what I think of him going forward.

You can, just can't have them on the same line. I'll admit Jordan had a rough series defensively. Ever since he took that huge hit, he was apprehensive about getting rocked again and because of it, was soft on pucks again. But he made huge strides on that this season and probably had his best season overall.
I def don't ever want to see those two on the same line. Fortunately, next season, the line of Schenn/Kyrou/Holloway should be back as it was one of the best lines in the NHL since the 4Nations until Dylan went down.
Last, he's NOT paid to be a superstar. In fact, within a couple years, providing he's still provding at least 30+ goals 65+ points, his contract will be considered a "bargain."
There's several players making more money and producing less than Kyrou. Don't have the list but I saw it on a Blues site or telecast once. Kyrou's definitely flawed but he's made huge strides.
He's not the Faulking problem.

While the NHL and high level hockey has tried to move to this "mobile / smaller" defenseman, the fact of the matter is that you still need size on the back end. We need to be bigger back there. Losing Tucker hurt - and I'm looking forward to his development. I doubt Suter comes back - but if he does it's on a 1 year with incentives. Who knows.. he may take it and have an interest in getting into coaching. And I agree with you on Faulk. He was getting overmatched far too often. Coughing up too many.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑05 May 2025 12:55 pmYou can, just can't have them on the same line. I'll admit Jordan had a rough series defensively. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm only trading Kyrou for a player of equal or better offensive ability. Absolutely no way I'm shipping him out for a defenseman.
Re: Hopefully that was Kyrou’s last game as a Blue
No he’s not paid to be a superstar. Look around, your McD’s your Matthews, MacKinnon are all making 11-15 or whatever. Kyrou is paid to be a good winger which is what he is.bud white wrote: ↑05 May 2025 12:29 pmYou can have Kyrou or Buchnevich. But you simply can't have both of them on the same team.

Yup and thats why hes a coach killer and gets booed and criticized by the fans. Totally soft lazy creampuff player. Holloway is 10x the player Jordan is and has a second gear and a nonstop motor.ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 06:37 amThe play you’re talking about was one of the most selfish and laziest shifts of the season. He could have kept the cycle going if he decided he wanted to, the Jets had tired legs on the ice, and instead he just lets go of the puck and skates back to the bench.MarmolMathenyShildtLOL wrote: ↑04 May 2025 23:47 pm Watching Ehlers push him off the puck like he was a toddler right before the end of OT1 was the final straw for me regarding him. Ehlers is not some sort of huge human being and is coming off a leg injury. But Kyrou just rolled over and lost yet another board battle like he always does. No second gear for that guy like Holloway has.
Trade the loser.

Schenn was -2 in game 7 and had points in 2 of 7 games (none in games 5, 6 and 7.ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 11:38 amAnd absolutely went back to his usually lazy lackadaisical self the entire series when the team needed him. He’s a cancer.

He got his clock cleaned and it may well have impacted his physicality. He was a PLUS TWENTY THREE on the year.bud white wrote: ↑05 May 2025 12:29 pmYou can have Kyrou or Buchnevich. But you simply can't have both of them on the same team.

He's paid to be, stat wise, exactly where he is with more and more AAV value being added each year.
Over the last 2 years he has transformed himself into a far greater 200 foot player and this trend will likely continue under Monty.
Call him all the childish names you want Kyrou is a highly tradable player with his contract. If Monty and DA want him gone he will be gone this summer before his contract trade clause kicks in. If Monty and DA keep him then I guess the Coach and GM don't see it your way.

Blues need more guys who would have smashed the Rangers player into the glass, then rimmed puck around boards.MarmolMathenyShildtLOL wrote: ↑05 May 2025 13:03 pmYup and thats why hes a coach killer and gets booed and criticized by the fans. Thank goodness team has enough — probably TOO MANY — guys who make easy and dumb plays like this:

Schenn just finished his 16th year in the league and is a 3rd line center playing on the 2nd line. His skill set isn’t like it was. But nobody can question his give a (bleep). Did you even watch the games ?theograce wrote: ↑05 May 2025 13:50 pmSchenn was -2 in game 7 and had points in 2 of 7 games (none in games 5, 6 and 7.ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 11:38 amAnd absolutely went back to his usually lazy lackadaisical self the entire series when the team needed him. All the guys care. They showed that. You think Monty gives ice to guys who don’t care?ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 14:24 pmSchenn just finished his 16th year in the league and is a 3rd line center playing on the 2nd line. Buchnevich has scored an even strength goal in 1 out of the 27 playoff games he’s played. Is that a care issue?
Re: Hopefully that was Kyrou’s last game as a Blue
I've been a Kyrou critic for years. Thought he was too weak mentally to be a difference maker in the playoffs. This year was the first time that I thought he may have turned the corner. Holloway was a good role model for him and DH compete level rubbed off of him. I don't pretend to be a doctor and know whether he was injured. However, that compete level was not present when the Blues needed it the most towards the end of this series. One of the national announcers called him out at some point last night. It isn't just "Kyrou Haters". If he was playing hurt, that explains a lot. If not, maybe the Blues should listen to offers.
