Re: Biggest Bust In Cards History
Hector Cruz was going to be the next great thing back in the 70s and just didn't pan out. His brother Jose was decent (maybe even good) as a Cardinal but became a really good player after being traded to the Astros.

Anything positive is out of place, Basil?

Would JD Drew be counted as a bust?
All the hype and all the injuries. Though trading him lead to having wainwright and a World Series

Alex Reyes has to be mentioned they touted him for years. One decent season as closer but nowhere near what he was expected to be, a number 1 starter.

The task is composing a list of players to determine which received the most hype yet didn't live up to it. Inserting players who were in fact great doesn't help compile said list. Albert and other "positive" players would be considered non-conforming variables. They don't help solve the equation needed to generate this particular set.Cranny wrote: ↑03 May 2025 15:55 pmAnything positive is out of place, Basil?
Alex Reyes is right up there with Walker for the title. Both were at some point #1 prospect in all of baseball if I remember correctly.
-Brett Wallace landed Holliday.
-Rasmus trade landed a World Series BP
-JD Drew acquired 16+ WAR as a Cardinal and eventually had a top-6 in MVP and an All-Star apperance, and he landed Wainwright. JD was a disappointment, I wouldn't say bust
