Why would Army do anything drastic. The Blues are on the exact trajectory the franchise promised, retooling with younger talent now Neighbours, Bolduc, Snuggerud are tasting the intensity of a playoff series this will have innumerable benefits going forward.
I still think Army signs a UFA center but it will be a bottom six guy like Frederic not a top 6 center. Dvorsky and Dean will be in camp looking to take a spot no point in locking up a 2C and overpaying when Schenn is fine for another year its possible Dvorsky can unseat him at some point later next year, certainly the Blues hope by the time Schenns term expires.
Then, the Blues will see Stenberg, Pekarcik, Kaskimaki, Robertsson, Jecho, Stancl etc battle soon fora few roster spots. And on D, Lindstein, Fischer, Burns, Jiricek, Ralph some of these guys are going to land NHL roster spots right around the time Faulk, maybe Fowler are up.
The Blues couldnt be in a better position going forward and then didnt have to tank to land high quality prospects.

Lets review the certainty of drafting high based on draft results per year,

2012 Parayko (86) is 14th in Points
2013 Buchnevich (75) is 7th in Points
2014 Barbashev (33) is 17th in Points
2015 Dunn (56) is 22nd in Points
2016 Kyrou (35th) is 9th in Points/Thompson (26th) is 10th in Points
2017 Thomas (20th) is 4th in Points
2020 Neighbours (26th) is 8th in Goals
2021 Bolduc (17th) is 10th in Goals

Why would you tank when you can just draft well?????

While you clowns are cracking your knuckles, squiming in your seats, and yelling at your TVs I'll be dreaming of draft day trades and the thrill of wearing some 18 year old's jersey in 3-4 years. Who knows what wonderful new design that might be!
Some of us are enjoying the moment and remaining objective about the future at the same time. I guarantee the ownership and front office are.
You somehow think I'm not???

The point is compare this moment, this series to NOT having it! This is fantastic, the stuff Monday Night Miracles are made of!

Win or lose this Blues team is on the map. They have a real team again, a competitive team, a team that can be tweaked and supplemented with emerging prospects, trades, and FA signings [offer sheets? Who saw THAT coming? Two virtually risk-free developed upper half 1st rounders for a handful of lower picks!] They are relevant again, a team that cannot be taken for granted.

The Blues are in the playoffs and that makes all this MUCH more entertaining.

As we sit here I can objectively say the Blues project to be BETTER next season, almost certainly with some prudent off-season moves, barring major injuries to key players. There are no guarantees, not even with high draft choices. There are multiple #1 overall picks whose teams did NOT even make the playoffs this season.
I'm tired of the continued jabs taken by the supposed 'real Blues fans at supposed 'fake Blues fans'. Your post post with blue font has a tinge of that attitude that we've seen in numerous threads that were nothing more than circle jerks for the 'true believers' of Blues Talk. You admit yourself how much that has transpired could in no way been foreseen. It's like a perfect storm. I wish the gods on here would be satisfied with what they have wrought and allows the mortals to enjoy it guilt free.
Blue font is the eternal signal for sarcasm.

If it is in Blue font it is not a serious post.

Because jersey sales my guy, jersey sales. Also, those picks clearly show that Army doesn't know how to scout/draft talented players.

Eh, I don't put in the blue font and try not to post /s. If you can't infer, especially after my previous history that that was sarcasm. Then I guess my bad. I just love our knowledgeable posters tho. There have been so many L's delivered to the trolls this season that it's been amazing to watch. The only time in my posting history that was funnier was during the days when the same trolls who posted on LA accounts got their stadiums invaded/ticket sale prices exposed. I know that's bringing up something from another time, but this year has been hilarious. Every time there's a post about something negative, one of our quality posters has a quick rebuttle to debunk or show up the argument.

It's been a glorious year for the Blues fans. LETS GO BLUES!

Lets break this down even further to prove that the theory of "tanking" is a fallacy that is not worth the financial stress to the this franchise

From '15-'23 :

Top 10 NHL draft picks resulted in Top 10 Point producers only 51/90 times = 56%
Top 5 NHL draft picks resulted in Top 5 Point producers only 24/45 times = 53%

So only 53% of the time did a player that was drafted Top 5 in the NHL actually end up being a Top 5 point producer in his draft class......

However:

2012 Parayko (86) is 14th in Points
2014 Barbashev (33) is 17th in Points
2015 Dunn (56) is 22nd in Points
2016 Kyrou (35th) is 9th in Points/Thompson (26th) is 10th in Points
2017 Thomas (20th) is 4th in Points
2020 Neighbours (26th) is 8th in Goals
2021 Bolduc (17th) is 10th in Goals

Again why not just invest in your amateur dept, focus on prospect development vs "tanking" and subjecting the fans to that prolonged misery? Makes ZERO sense

The only time you do it is when the franchise is in complete disarray. You have absolutely missed multiple years while trying to win and found yourself in last place etc... At that point it's time to intentionally tear it down to the studs and then tanking is warranted. But you don't take when your team has had a winning record which the Blues have had. The cardinals if they had a season like last year, would be in full panic mode.
