Hellebuyck in the regular season.

Binnington in the playoffs. No doubt.
this by percentage but I still take Binner in the regular season.

Don't get me wrong, I love Binner. But I find the narrative interesting. Everyone talks about how clutch Binny is but seem to forget that the two years following the cup run he went 0-9 and was terrible.
Binnington, and it's still not close, and until proven otherwise.

Might be worth a thread as to how many posters have either advocated trading Binnington for future picks or just willing to trade JB for future picks.

And folks win or lose this series....this team will have many more in front of them beyond '25.

The Draft Nerd crowd will always advocate trading players for picks. Just wait, they'll be back soon.

When the Blues extended Binner way back when I posted that they are set up to be a goaltender development mill as long as he's here. They graduated Husso and I'd say Hofer is ready when someone comes knocking.

The future looks bright. Hey, the future is right in front of this team, starting in Winnipeg.

Binnington is a much better puck manager
Where was that skill -- or competitive fire -- on Thomas' goal today? He just stood there at the far post as Thomas went to the backhand. No reaction. No stacking of pads. Nothing. Either laziness or slow reflexes, as his glove hand has shown high.

Hellebuyck is shell shocked. And the Binner gremlins are deep in his cortex.

Connor Hellebuyck has allowed 4 or more goals in 7 of his last 9 playoff games. 5 or more in 5 of his last 9

Why trade Hofer? He looks like a 1B that could be 1A in a couple of years. There are two more years on Binnington's contract. The Blues window should still be wide open then. Hard to say how good Binnington still is three seasons from now. We have seen what happens to teams when the goaltending breaks down. So, why move either of them when in this window?

I have freely admitted and will own up tuet again that when Binnie was flailing over two uears ago, i was howling about how his contract was an anchor. He may not be as lights out as he was in 2019 but his puckhandling ability has only evolved to a point that it is integral to our d plan and breakout. Panger identified it well today. If the Blues are forechecking well, the recourse for the opposition is to long dump it in just over the red line, but that is immediately nullified by Binnie playing the puck. That Hofer can do that as well is not a coincidence. Certainly see the Blues ponying up to sign him this offseason.
