Texier playing tonight?

Post by Spyro Gyra »

Could Blues Forward Realistically See 2025 Playoff Debut Thursday

It appears it's a safe assumption that Alexandre Texier will play a game for the first time in nearly a month on Thursday (8:30 p.m.; FDSNMW, ESPN2, SN, CBC, TVAS, ESPN 101.1-FM).

Texier, who last played March 27 against the Nashville Predators, played in only 31 games this season for the Blues (11 points; six goals, five assists) due to injury, illness and a large dose of healthy scratches.

But the forward was skating Wednesday at practice with Oskar Sundqvist and Zack Bolduc on the third line and is someone who does have the skill set to make a difference when on top of his game.

Yeah, he was on the 3rd line during practice yesterday. Maybe we’ll have a more definitive answer after the morning skate today.

Joseph was the 1C in line rushes yesterday but that was clearly as just as a placeholder for Thomas so they didn’t have to mess up the rest of the lines.

I personally would go with Joseph on the 3rd line over Texier but regardless, I’d prefer they play one or the other and not go 11F, 7D again. That just messes up the flow of the game and lines too much IMO. No offense to Tucker but he wasn’t good last game. I’d sit him. But if they really want him in there then sit Suter. No more 11F, 7D.

Totally agree with the move.

Was hoping to see both Texier and Joseph in the lineup tonight.

Need a couple fresh hungry bodies in there.

Go Blues!!

JR pretty sure Tex is in.

I agree my 2 cents .....stay with 6 on the Blue Line.

My guess is the 7 d was probably because someone was questionable to play.

This guy doesn’t even feel like he’s part of the team. Not a fan of the move but in Monty I trust

I’d prefer Joseph over Texier but Tex is clearly more skilled offensively. And that’s what we need right now. It’s a gamble that maybe Tex’s skills can shine and they can hide his defensive shortcomings by having the last change at home.

I can handle it if Tucker's out next game, and the puck got by him very noticeably twice. But I like him and see him improving. He doesn't seem to be an outgoing type of guy, kind of quiet (but I'm not in the locker room). I just really like his calmness with the puck, and that's important for a defenseman. I also like that he's shooting more. But I'll survive with whatever the Hockey Gods say.

Tucker is gonna make mistakes..as are all the other dmen but I want his physicality in there. If we lose we lose…it won’t be all on Tucker but he’s a threat to knock a Scheifele or Connor out of the game, maybe even the series.

We will miss Joseph’s speed and commitment to defense.

I bet Tex puts two or more shots on goal, and will not be surprised if one of them goes in.
I hope he feels the fire in his belly.

More than fair. Tucker did struggle keeping pucks in in Game 2 and that penalty was dumb but I’d be fine with him in over Suter. He brings snarl and he has a future with this team. If Suter does, it isn’t for long.
