Tekoah Roby start Springfield 4/17/25
Stat line: Pitches-strikes:Roby 68-41.
IP 4.0, Hits 3, Runs 3 ER 2, BB 2, Strikeouts 4
Bad second inning - all 3 of his hits allowed, One of his 2 BB.
Watched the MiLB second inning.
He was really hit hard in this inning.
First 3 batters HR, 2B both hammered then a weak 2B past 3B.
This resulted in both ERs.
Third run scored when Roby threw a ball into LF on a bounder back to the mound.
He had the runner from 2B hung up on the throw to 3B.
Pitches in the inning - 31.
The good news.
The other 3 innings only had a walk with a total of 37 pitches
He continued to get stretched out with total pitches per start.
Three starts, total pitches 43 - 55 - 68.

With Roby progressing unevenly if slowly, Hjerpe with TJ and Matthews and Hence out indefinately - what happens if McGreevey gets hurt? This "reset" could be over before it even gets off the ground if none of our Milb pitching talent can progress to start earning MLB WAR before the waning years of this decade.cards53 wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 13:56 pm Tekoah Roby start Springfield 4/17/25

Re: Tekoah Roby start Springfield 4/17/25
The chances are just as good that Hence and/or Roby go to the bullpen and look like the good Alex Reyes as they are that they amount to nothing. The chances are just as good that Matthews gets a late season callup to St Louis as they are that he misses the whole season. The chances are just as good that somebody else gets hurt and McGreevy gets called up to fill their spot. Hjerpe- gotta give you that one- it's hard to be optimistic about him. You can be as alarmed, or hopeful as you choose to be.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 14:01 pmWith Roby progressing unevenly if slowly, Hjerpe with TJ and Matthews and Hence out indefinately - what happens if McGreevey gets hurt? It doesn’t add up to a 50-50 proposition, though. Our team decides to go cheap and refuse to pay for any talent that we didn’t draft, then pretty much everything has to go right for them to even compete. And in the real world, they are a lot more likely to become the Pirates than the Dodgers.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑20 Apr 2025 14:19 pmThe chances are just as good that Hence and/or Roby go to the bullpen and look like the good Alex Reyes as they are that they amount to nothing. Our owners strategy is not a favorable coin flip.
Re: Tekoah Roby start Springfield 4/17/25
I like to look at the glass half full.
McGreevy gets called up soon and shows to be a reliable starter in 2025.
Mathews stays healthy and current IL is just a chance for a reset.
Roby continues to get stretched out and looks good.
Maybe get a move up to AAA around late midseason.
I know that's a lot to ask!!
