NO, he is safe regardless of how this team does this year or the next few years. He is inexpensive and toes the party line. He fulfills the warm body required of the job.

Couldn't care less if the new guy is energetic. TLR wasn't energetic, and he did a fine job here.ramfandan wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 21:12 pmIn NFL football, it’s very commonplace that a new GM wants his own head coach to run the team.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 20:50 pm I wouldn't be shocked if Bloom has "his" guy that he's thinking about for the manager's seat.
Bloom want that new look moving forward.
If Oli goes , you want the new guy to have his coaching staff he knows and likes.
The holdovers I would keep are Brant Brown, Jon Jay, and possibly Stubby.
No Pops, Dusty, and Descalso (as new manager wants his own right hand man ).
Get a high energy manager who has a sense of humor and isn’t surly like Oli

The manager must have a "feel" for the game and the players who are in it.
Oli has never been able to acquire that quality.
Not every situation is treated the same..not every analytic is acted upon.
Knowing when and which buttons to push on individual players.
Despite all the [nonsense] metrics you still have to be able to manage by the seat of your pants.

He’s gone before the end of August if they are out of playoff race. Jon Jay interim manager to finish year. There will have to be a fall guy eventually.

Why just Marmot?? Blake, game strategists, all pitching coaches, etc definitely should be gone 10 minutes after the last out of the regular season.
This is all guaranteed to occur if MLB COMPETENT individuals manage and lead the FO. IF you take the position of POBOy and cannot win or lose with your own picked team then you are bound to fail. Stadium janitor position could always be available for Marmot if he MUST stay in organization.

If they repeat the start from the last 2 years, I think he's gone by Memorial day. This is already a dire situation, and the empty seats with warmer weather won't be a pretty sight.
Bloom has to have someone in mind to take over for Marmol, if not several someones. If he is smart, he will purge all front office personnel associated with Mo, just to remove any doubt who's in charge now.
The vibe, the mood, the stench that Mo has, surrounding this organization, has got to be eradicated.
Commit to letting the kids play and move on.
Fans will appreciate the honesty for a change.

Do you think Bloom would have taken the job if what you're saying is true? I don't either.Ordinary Man wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 21:14 pmYeah, it's entirely possible that DeWitt has told Bloom he will have to work with Oli and if a change is made, DeWitt will decide when/if that is. I think he's here for the foreseeable future.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 21:03 pm Unless he is arrested for a crime or takes a mid-game dump on the mound, he will not be fired. And contrary to many on here, I'm not convinced Bloom makes a change.

The two traits you're describing are pretty far down on most lists. It seems like you're highly interested in press conferences.ramfandan wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 21:12 pmIn NFL football, it’s very commonplace that a new GM wants his own head coach to run the team.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 20:50 pm I wouldn't be shocked if Bloom has "his" guy that he's thinking about for the manager's seat.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. There have been several times when we all thought he has to be fired by some date. MO never does it. MO never will.... Until MO is gone, Olipad is safe.
This team is not going anywhere until they get some decent pitching. The offense has been good enough to be above .500 so far. Obviously, the pitching has killed them. Oli doesn't help, but most of this is on the pitching staff, or lack thereof, and I have been calling for his removal for a long time. Yes, he is pretty poor at utilizing the pitching staff, but he has little to work with. At some point a new manager and pitching coach might get just a wee bit more out of the roster though

Mo is Oli's safety net, he knows as long as he never challenged him (ala Shildt), then he'd have job security.
Pitiful way to run a team.
I always ask the Oli defenders one simple question:
"What does he do to HELP the team win a game"?
The answer is nothing!
Poor in game management, no strategic moves from the dugout, horrible lineup construction, terrible bullpen moves, ect.............
The guys the nearest to nothing Manager we've ever seen in St. Louis.
Can't wait to see who C. Bloom brings in.

Not sure who Bloom would go after but they'd have to be an upgrade over this clown.82birds wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:16 amspot on, bccf and Rockrockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:06 amBingo bccfbccardsfan wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:02 amUnfortunately, you are probably right. Amen Rock, but you and I and a whole lot of others have been calling for the change for a long time. Bloom probably has candidates in mind, who knows... I love this team, having been a fan my whole life and really have been following them for over 60 years, through all sorts of ups and downs. I know they will rise again, but not until MO is gone and there is a fresh approach. They are a mid market team. No one expects them to spend like drunken sailors ala NYY and LAD. Fine. But a well run mid market team CAN be competitive. Just not with such incompetence at the helm and mediocrity on the bench in the dugout. A good cook can make a wonderful meal out of a cheaper cut.....rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:17 amNot sure who Bloom would go after but they'd have to be an upgrade over this clown.82birds wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:16 amspot on, bccf and Rockrockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:06 amBingo bccfbccardsfan wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 09:02 amUnfortunately, you are probably right. Re: Will Marmol get fired this year and what will it
If this were done (it won't be), they need to be prepared to get rid of the interim manager also, because it's probably going to be a very uneven year. Given the roster, the age of the players, and the lack of a clear focus on what the organizational goal for the season is- any manager is going to look foolish at times. Some managers would look foolish more often than others.
