Solid pick…and from what I’m hearing, got him for less than a Million. And he’s a 2 year player.

Unfortunately a decent get isn't good enough for a team that needs to acquire a couple of difference makers.
Mack, Porter and the kid from Jeff City don't fit the description.
Hopefully Gates has a diamond in the rough coming.

Everybody in the know is sure they are still looking for a difference-making shooting guard and a serviceable big. Problem is that the portal market is so far underwhelming and extremely expensive. It's still early.11WSChamps wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 09:32 am Unfortunately a decent get isn't good enough for a team that needs to acquire a couple of difference makers.

Mack is basically a replacement for Perkins, a big, strong guard who can take it to the hole and is a mediocre shooter from three. He is quicker than Perkins and a better driver.

Mack reminds me of Bates who was highly regarded out of HS but went to a program that didn't fit him at all in his role. then he blossomed when he got with tigers and much more PT.
This kid started most games as a true freshman at a big brand program and was top 60 player in his class who is a strong athlete but whose shooting touch never developed as he lost his starting job to more experienced transfers. Does attack the rim well and is like Perkins and will be in combo guard combination which could include Ant and Boating this year and see who grabs the job. Personally I think Ant will be more aggressive offensively and has a great floater and has a solid shooting touch overall. Boating was top recruit in last years class and can fill it up himself with more PT.
This at least is a guy in Mack who should be a primary player much more than javon or JC kid who seem more like end of your rotation types but definitely not starters.
STILL so far Gates has been much less successful than he was last year off the Worst year ever in recent MU BB which surprises me. of course they saw this freshman class up close in practice everyday so know much more than we do as Gates does a horrid job of getting his kids involved in the one sided games tigers were in. WE have no choice but to trust him but Not near as much as we did a month ago and he could lose the fan base quickly if he has a meh pre conference record or starts poorly in SEC. This is crucial year for his career and he better put a Tougher, better defensive and rebounding team out there.
Did rest of you appreciate how Houston didn't allow many drives to their basket? there was always someone who jumped in and stopped them and hands stripping ball away. GREAT coaching that showed how (bleep) poor mu's staff did in coaching their kids. they allowed way too many OLE defense where they allowed guys to roll to basket unimpeded and made you sick and that's when season went totally downhill and they kept doing it in final weeks. That's a complete failure on coaching staff.
