51 runs in 7 games Wow!
After watching games in 2024 where getting 2 or 3 runs seemed like a lot, it sure has been more fun this year.
A loss is a loss but if I am going to see them play, a 13-9 loss is more entertaining than a 2-1 loss where I pay big $$ to see the team get 4 or 5 hits all day.
Cards are 4-3 ..IF they play at that pace for the year, they win 92.5 games.
Win or lose this year’s team has shown more fight and A new hitting approach that has the team more positive and upbeat.
Even Al Hrabosky in pregame (certainly a guy who ‘tells it like it is and doesn’t sugarcoat things) stated today that when he was in Jupiter and Cards weren’t hitting he sensed thru the players how much they bought in to Brant Brown .
Think Al’s comment was on the mark . The best offseason acquisition may very well be a coach rather than any one player.

Re: 51 runs in 7 games Wow!
The runs are awesome but scoring that many in 7 games but only 4-3 record to show for it isn’t great. The offense won’t continue to score at this pace so hopefully the bullpen improves it can’t be just the maton and helsely show or things could get ugly. Contreras will start hitting again and Winn is getting on track so the offense could be pretty good
Re: 51 runs in 7 games Wow!
If someone asked me to take 4-3 every 7 games the rest of the way out and win 92 games, I would accept that as ‘great’ for this club.

They are scoring 7 a game - but are giving up 5+.
Hard to win that way over a 162-game schedule.
Particularly with a manager who is poor at BP management to begin with.

Interesting math ? So over 162 games , the run differential scoring 7+ vs. allowing 5+ Would be over +320 runs !Melville wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 19:53 pmYep.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 17:50 pm The runs are awesome but scoring that many in 7 games but only 4-3 record to show for it isn’t great. Now that won’t happen but mathematically would not say it ‘hard to win’ The Cards run away with a 7 vs 5 Scorsese vs allowed.
The World Chamipon Dodgers were +180 .

You sure that was true last year?Melville wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 19:53 pmYep.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 17:50 pm The runs are awesome but scoring that many in 7 games but only 4-3 record to show for it isn’t great. Cards had one good series where they sweeped a Twins team that is not that good. Since then they are 1-3. To be talking about a projected win total after going 3-0 and then 1-3 is laughable.
Re: 51 runs in 7 games Wow!
You forgot that Nootbaar plays for the Cardinals, so that is worth a -420 run differential in Melville’s book.ramfandan wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 20:12 pmInteresting math ? Today: RISP 6-12. Just couple weeks ago that was the main topic of concern. Not sure if any of us thought we would see such production. One game but still it is progress.

You either play your way on 2026 competitive squad or play your way off the 2025 make-it or break-it roster
Find out the key core from the young group and build a team around those 6-7 and the other 4-5 can move on
McGreevy needs to pitch in STL too, he is the future not the rag-tag 5 ERA group (Mikolaz, Matz and Fedde) are costing 40 million
Say goodbye to them and those that don’t make it
At least these young players are showing some progress for the most part
Scott, Walker, Herrera, Donovan, Nootbaar, Winn, Gorman
Burley seems trade able is DH only type
Baker, Saggese, (maybe bench)
Pages, Sinai, Feinin - Bye Bye

Hard to sustain a 7 run per game average and give up 5+ a game.ramfandan wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 20:12 pmInteresting math ? Neither are remotely sustainable.
But then, you knew understood that point originally.
So why pretend that you did not?

Hitting with RISP was undoubtedly the biggest caveat going into the season. But that's when average pitching was believed to be a given.
You've got to consistently have average levels of both to have any hopes for October.
But it's still early. I think the old baseball saying is see where you're at on June 1st, you'll know what you have, what you don't, and what you need.

Offense is smoking
Bullpen (sans Helsley and Maton and Leahy) is reeking
Starters have been "okay"
Need to get that pen' straightened out of they may waste all this offense.

Yes, Dan, the Cards have scored some runs in their first seven games. But, we all know that any statistician worth their salt would dismiss any extrapolation of numbers from seven to 162. We are still in the super small sample size range of data points. I will enjoy it today and resist the temptation to conclude anything.ramfandan wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 17:22 pm After watching games in 2024 where getting 2 or 3 runs seemed like a lot, it sure has been more fun this year.

Funny how putting it all together seems so rare. Either the pitching is decent and the offense MIA, or vice versa.
It is fun currently looking at the offensive stats.
It seemed with the pitching labs and tech, the pitching had the edge ..................... but now just wondering if the hitters have caught up, even passed with all the help they can get these days. It's early, but wow so far.
