can someone tell me one good player we got from 2023 fire sale?
That year was massively important for the organization, the rare fire sale giving up your best players in an awful season. Trades like these are supposed to rebuild your major league team quickly on the fly, much like the Oakland A's and Tampa have done for many seasons.
The trades of Jordan Hicks, Jordan Montgomery, Jack Flaherty have resulted to exactly zero usable assets at the major league level.
This is why the Cardinals are going nowhere fast.
They have nobody making personnel decisions that knows anything about baseball.

You trade like 6 guys at the deadline, you should see something by now. I guess King counts, but we should be seeing more.

Baseball is littered with guys who perform in the minors but can’t at the big league level. They might, they might not. I don’t know and neither do you.Cranny wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:50 pmOf course we look. They didn't trade for major leaguers. They traded for high level prospects. All of the guys we picked up in the trades fall into your category. They traded for the future, but you don't seem to understand that.desertrat23 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:55 pmBaseball is littered with guys who perform in the minors but can’t at the big league level. Please adjust the thread title to "Mo sucks at trades" where it appropriately belongsKonstantinov wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:29 pm That year was massively important for the organization, the rare fire sale giving up your best players in an awful season. Mo's made a number of good trades. He's also had some questionable FA signings.gilmores33 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 17:01 pmPlease adjust the thread title to "Mo sucks at trades" where it appropriately belongsKonstantinov wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:29 pm That year was massively important for the organization, the rare fire sale giving up your best players in an awful season. So they’re lottery tickets, like any other prospect. The answer to the original question isn’t a list of names. It’s “we don’t know yet.”Cranny wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:59 pmThey didn't trade for major leaguers. They traded for high level prospects. What did you expect them to get back in trades for players who were just rentals for other teams? All Star major leaguers?desertrat23 wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 17:15 pmSo they’re lottery tickets, like any other prospect. The answer to the original question isn’t a list of names. I think they are fine talents. Nothing in this game is a sure thing. They are pieces to dream on given health. Roby a high end arm. Saggese a good RH utility player. Robberse maybe a solid back end starter. Prieto a good utility infielder. All possibilities.Cranny wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:40 pmRobyKonstantinov wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 16:29 pm That year was massively important for the organization, the rare fire sale giving up your best players in an awful season. The only good player they traded was Montgomery the others were mediocre at best and they were all rentals so they weren’t going to get much for them especially at the trade deadline if they had traded them before the season they would have got more but they didn’t

The original question was: “Can someone tell me one good player we got from the 2023 fire sale?”
The ONLY accurate, correct answer is: “We don’t know yet.”
Nobody said anything about expecting all-stars. They’re prospects. We. Don’t. Know. What. They’re. Going. To. Be.
