M Allen hits the portal
Surprised at this one_ CY was his guy, and he got the most minutes as a freshman on a sr loaded squad. I liked his game.

I liked his physicality and toughness, but he gave you little offensively.
Won’t be hard to replace. It’s the guys who can fill it up offensively or create for others that are hard to replace.

The village idiot knttiger didn't have have enough money in his piggy bank to afford keeping this one at Mizzou.
Even 2-3 dollars is a tough pill to swallow for an 80 year old coming off hip-pocket surgery.

You and the other village trolls who always post the exact same thing can only hope they do.

I don't like that he's leaving but I don't think he was anything that can't be replaced.

Yes, sorry to see him go but let's face it, his offensive game was really bad.
It seemed whenever he handled the ball, he turned it over.
Marshall and Allen were both turnover machines.
Allen's game actually got worse as the season progressed and his minutes were cut.
Does he have potential? Of course but only as a defensive player off the bench.
In truth, there are better players out there in the portal who can exceed Allen's numbers and his potential.
Re: M Allen hits the portal
No big loss in the era of the portal. More opportunity for Gates to get a better player than he is.
Re: M Allen hits the portal
I agree with that but I think he could develop and would like to have him stay to keep that continuity from season to season that we've been lacking. Hopefully no one else bolts.straight out of st louis robert ave wrote: ↑04 Apr 2025 20:20 pmYes, sorry to see him go but let's face it, his offensive game was really bad.

Without anymore defections and who we have coming in I don't see Allen as a major loss.
Also I can see Gates bringing in a veteran guard or two as he usually does.

Agreed.Mizzoufan443 wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025 16:15 pmsad to see. this guy had tremendous upside, and had lock-down defensive skills, good rebounder too
I'm surprised by the amount of 'no big loss' posts we're seeing in this thread. Kid showed himself, as a Freshman, to be a poised, willing defender and hard nosed player in what has amounted to the strongest single season conference of all time. IMO, that kid is had some real dog (the good kind) in him. Flashes of a younger Kobe Brown at times. Him and AntRob would have given you a good foundation for a strong and tenacious defensive team next year.
Hope they actually bring him back.

If Allen’s offense was as good as his defense, and his defense was on the level of his offense, some would be more upset by this. It’s harder to notice high level defense than it is offense. Allen was unreal as a Freshman and regularly defended great players at a high level. He also has a big upside at his age. I like this less the more I think of it.

I agree that it's a loss that might come back to bite them. Great defensive players don't grow on trees. Who knows if he will develop into a decent offensive guy, but it's always good to have a defensive specialist.Mizzoufan443 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 22:37 pmIf Allen’s offense was as good as his defense, and his defense was on the level of his offense, some would be more upset by this.
