Extra innings is a (bleep) shoot

Post by vegascardsfan5890 »

Like 3 on 3 in the NHL

Cardinals played 17 extra inning games last season
12 each in 2022 and 2023
And 9 in 2021

I'm not worried about how they played with the manfred runner on 2nd. That doesn't happen in the playoffs.

Yeah I can't stand that extra innings man on 2nd automatically (bleep). Exactly what I thought would happen during yesterday's game happened.

So annoying. All it takes is a freaking single for the away team to win, and anything extra just puts the game even further out of reach. Yeah the home team gets the same shot, but that's when their bats will go ice cold of course.

What if the runner would be on 1st. Then you'd still have an opportunity to score but also could end up with a ground ball double play.

How about you wait till the 11th inning to do ghost runner?

If they continue to use it, ur idea is a good one.

I'd prefer they not do it at all, but I get it...but don't like it.

I mentioned before about starting in the 12th. Then put the ghost runner on 1st.
Make then really earn it

Maybe just have a HR derby after one extra inning.

I hear ya. Your idea carries merit. For all intents and purposes and purposes, by the 11th the game is over, simply ly waiting on a final score.

Or on the Xtreme side- no runner in tenth- runner on first in 11th, runner on second in the 12th, runner on third in the 13th.

Yeah and for the HR derby portion you can activate one legacy player. Mark McGwire or Albert Pujols.

Yes, extra innings can be a (bleep) shoot. But, you still have to manage to win the game. Home team bunting w/ supposedly their best damage hitter batting in the 2 hole and then letting your 0fer SS bat against a tough RHP with the game on the line when you have a LH bat in the dugout who appeared very dialed in the previous day is not losing a (bleep) shoot. It is getting out managed.

I’d rather end in a tie than this nonsense. Same for 3 on 3

Sure would have been nice to have Helsley in the 10th when you badly need a strikeout.

How about playing extra innings like they had for 100 years?
