Arenado and Donovan defense in top of 10th

Post by hmoss859 »

Arenado probably could have caught the bunt in air, but thought he has a force at third, maybe a DP, then then can’t get a grip

Donovan had several options and chose the wrong one
If he charges the ball more aggressively he has a tag on runner and throw to first, he also the option and getting force at second or out a first

It’s the second run that beats you at home in extra innings, Donovan needed to have better situation awareness

No to both. Nado had no shot at catching that. Donovan had no shot at tagging the runner and throwing to first. Donovan screwed up and should have got the force out but he was not getting a double play. This is not a video game with cheat modes for super speed.

A simple thing like Arenado not being able to make the play at 3B in the tenth was huge. The force out was there but Arenado not being able to get a grip and having to take the out at first probably cost the Cardinals both runs. Donovan doesn’t try to make the play at home plate because there isn’t a play to be made there.

Things just happen but Arenado not being able to get a grip on the ball probably cost the Cardinals both runs and the game.

Arenado made the proper play he just lost the handle.

Donovan messed up big time, gotta get an out there.

Arenado looks close. Close enough that the runner on 2B stopped. I don't think that he can catch it though.
The bobble hurt a lot.
Close again with Donovan on the tag of the runner seeded to get at least one there, no chance at home.

Arenado could of, should of caught the ball. He tried to make the play to complex, letting it bounce first. All his practices did not include a bunt pop up and it showed.
