When Harry was let go, the brewery said it was a marketing decision. Harry blamed it on rumors that had been flying around that he was having an affair with Gussie's daughter-in-law.imetsatchelpaige wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 18:28 pmNot be confused with Harry banging his wife. Wonder how old August Busch's wife was when Harry was rumored to ...................... Carey down the tunnel.
Do hope we see Koperniak soon, very soon. And just to repeat what others have already pointed out, even though he's a LH bat, he hits LHP very well and plays solid OF defense.
Did Koperniak tap Mrs Mo or Mrs DeWitt?

Cooperstown ExpertThe unsubstantiated rumor – that Carey never denied – is that an affair with August Busch III’s wife led to the announcer’s dismissal. Proof of the affair supposedly came to light after Caray was hit by a car on November 3, 1968 and nearly lost his life.
The Busch family phone bill for the month showed many calls to Caray’s hospital room. The charges were traced to Susan Busch, the young wife of August Busch III who was the son of the team owner.
The story continues that the Busch family hired a private investigator who confirmed that Mrs. Busch was indeed romantically linked to Caray, who was then in his 50s. Whether the story is true or not, Susan and August Busch III were divorced in 1969, the same year the Cardinals opted not to renew the contract of the immensely popular Caray.

Harry was 51 at the time, and Susan was 29. They were friends, but since "the third" traveled so much Harry and Susan would often talk on the phone. She was trying to help him as a "volunteer nurse" after his terrible accident. Gussie had arranged for Harry to convalesce at a rehab center in Florida for 3 months. One night, after Harry came back from Florida, they were having dinner at Tony's and after having a little too much to drink they became too friendly at the table. Rumors flared up after that. Both Harry and Susan denied that they were ever involved in an affair. Even after Susan's divorce.

I think you may have been tapped in the head or time or two frenchy.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025 07:34 am Whom do you think it was? MO's wife or DeWitt's wife?
It's the only thing that makes sense.
Crushed it at Memphis last season. Killed it in Spring Training. 4-4 last night against Cardinal pitching. Decent glove, runs well.
Why is he not on our 25 roster? Scott the starter in CF. Noot the backup. If this is truly a reset, why wouldn't you give him a shot over Siani? I'd rather have him on the roster over Baker. Heck, I'd rather see him over Burly. And of course, when is the last time anyone feared Norman Gorman.
I just don't get it. I feel sorry for this kid. He's getting fukked.

But along with your pithy comment, what exactly do you disagree with?
Re: Did Koperniak tap Mrs Mo or Mrs DeWitt?
He's definitely more deserving than some people on the team (Siani, probably Burleson), but the issue is he's just blocked by too many other needs. He's too low on the depth chart.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 22:24 pmPossibly.riff raff wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 18:59 pmI think you may have been tapped in the head or time or two frenchy.Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025 07:34 am Whom do you think it was? The team needs to find out what Gorman can do, so replacing him with Koperniak makes no sense.
The team also needs a backup MI/SS, so even if Siani weren't on the team (which he shouldn't be), it should be Fermin/Barrero before Koperniak in his place.
I'd totally be on board with them booting Burleson and having Koperniak instead, but you hopefully know why that will never happen. They irrationally love them some Burly.
Basically they should probably trade Koperniak now for as good a prospect as they can get.
