S. Gray battling Flu-like illness

Sonny Gray recovering from illness

BTW
Did anyone see where M. Betts, who's also been battling some kind of illness, is down to 150 lbs from 175 lbs at the beginning of spring training. 8O

This picture of him really shows how skinny he's become:

25 pounds is huge, at any rate. The military says 3-8 pounds per month.

Wouldn't be surprised if Gray could be last minute scratch if he is not feeling well OR pulled very early in the game.

If he is scratched , Oli may not want to announce that til day of game as that way the Twins have less time to prepare for the Cardinal hurler who would get most of the work. Don't wish the flu on anyone but must be rough if one is expected to throw a baseball at 90+ MPH when you are feeling poorly. I was an avid bowler in a major league . Remember how it wasn't the greatest swinging that 16 pound ball when feeling weak .

I guess it wasn't just a case of a veteran working on stuff like some suggested

That what I was hoping ozzie, that he was working on a pitch and didn't give a c r a p about the outcome which many vets do in STing.

But battling a Flu-like illness can't help either.

He'll probably make the OD start but Oli most likely will have S. Matz prepped to come in early if Gray weakens early on.

Yes, good plan on Matz. Wouldn't surprise me is Matz enters very early. If the flu bug affects Sonny's command and he runs high pitch counts in 1st inning, it may be wise to pull him . You don't want to wear the guy out further and let him recover so it hopefully won't jeopardize his follow up start.

The flu is absolutely wicked and probably his drop in Velo is because of this.

Took me 2 weeks to get over it, lost 18 lbs during process.

I wonder if Lance Lynn ever had flu like symptoms?

seems the larger players are the healthiest and the smaller players have problems.

I’m sure that Lance Lynn is the one person in this world to never have gotten the flu before.

Let the roster juggles begin.

Could IL Gray going back a few days. Matz comes out of the bullpen to start or just keep him there and McGreevy gets the starts and stays as the 6-man. (Roycroft we hardly knew you.)

Does Pallante have the flu too?

I guess because it's a Cardinal, it must be bird flu.
