Did Koperniak tap Mrs Mo or Mrs DeWitt?

Post by Monsieur De Treville »

Whom do you think it was? MO's wife or DeWitt's wife?
It's the only thing that makes sense.

Crushed it at Memphis last season. Killed it in Spring Training. 4-4 last night against Cardinal pitching. Decent glove, runs well.

Why is he not on our 25 roster? Scott the starter in CF. Noot the backup. If this is truly a reset, why wouldn't you give him a shot over Siani? I'd rather have him on the roster over Baker. Heck, I'd rather see him over Burly. And of course, when is the last time anyone feared Norman Gorman.

I just don't get it. I feel sorry for this kid. He's getting fukked.

Spring competition meant nothing except for Scott. Our best pitcher didn’t even make the team.

Thing is...it's not just spring. He killed it in Memphis last year.

Can’t disagree with any of that.
How I wish he hit RH!
Hopefully- Scott makes it. If he flops then Koperniak should get the shot next. Or of course if Noot gets injured per usual.
I know Siani infuriates people but I can’t see him as any more than 26th man for defense only.
His future should be irrelevant.

Back to Koperniak. We need to also remember that Donovan factors into the starting OF rotation.
I think if any of Noot/Scott/Walker sit then Donovan plays a corner with Noot sliding to CF if it is Scott out. And Donovan does need to play somewhere. Of course you factor in IF and DH.
At least Koperniak gets regular AB’s. If he keeps
raking I don’t see how he is kept down unless he is part of a trade package.

Thanks!
A lot of angst which is understandable.
Thankfully the games start this week and we can watch and not just speculate!
Honestly....I’m LESS concerned with Siani actually being on the roster and MORE concerned with how how Oli USES the roster!

Koperniak can hit and play all three OF positions. Siani, Burleson, and Baker are entirely one-dimensional, which a team lacking high-end talent cannot afford much of. At least Baker bats RH which they need off the bench. Gorman and Walker need to be given every opportunity to break out instead of benching them for low ceiling players.

I have been correctly explaining the TOXIC CULTURE of the organization for several years.
The Cardinals don't make baseball decisions.
There is no true competition for roles.
They anoint certain young players on one hand and protect certain veteran players in bubble wrap on the other.
In each of these 2 categories, there are specific factors which apply.
With whom has Mo fallen in love?
Who has the "development team" labeled as the next success and a guaranteed core player of the future?
Who has marketability?
Who has a guaranteed high dollar contract?
Who is perceived as a "legacy" figure?
These are the type of calculations the team makes.
Not one of those factors has anything to do with putting the best players on the roster or building a winning product.
As you can see, Koperniak (among others), does not check any of these required boxes.
Which is why he is in Memphis.
It also explains with perfect clarity why certain young guys have been traded over the years only to find great success elsewhere.
I warned about all of this long ago and predicted the inevitability of the past couple of years.
It was all so very:
Easy
Obvious
Correct

My hope is it’s Walker, Noot and Scott in outfield. Donovan at Second. Gorman utility infielder and DH in some days.

My guess is Walker (maybe Scott) will struggle and sent down in 45 to 60 days. Those in AAA will get their chance.

If they send Walker down he’ll be out of options next year, so sending him down again this year would be like a kiss of death IMO.

Yep but that is no reason to let him take a starting position away from more deserving options. I know you aren’t suggesting that. It’s a critical 60 days for Walkers career IMO.

Worth nothing Koperniak had a 950+ OPS against leftys last year. .772 in 2023.
