What’s people’s take on Pribula?
Interesting on SEC network they were talking about the number of new QBs that will be in the SEC (as many as 10 teams will have new QBs). They spend quite a bit of time talking about Pribula and that he could be one that surprises people. They said everyone knows he is an elite runner, but in High School he threw for over 2500yds and 33 passing TDs in 11 games and was regarded as an elite passer. I know there will be a lot of competition if Horn is healthy but kind of exciting to have him in the fold.
Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
BIG NIL money. He’s the starter. Period.
Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
I'm not quite sure about a Penn State reject for QB in the SEC. Their starter sucks, and he couldn't beat him out? I guess we'll see in 5+ months.

I’m not quite sure you are aware of Drew Allar’s standing in the scouting community.
There were people who had Allar ranked as a first round QB before he announced his return. That was before “scouting season” this winter/spring so no guarantees but he is no pushover. Here is a yahoo article from this week that has him as the #2 QB behind Manning for 2026 and mentions he may have been a first rounder this year.

The fact is there's a small percentage of a chance that he was rejected by Penn St.
That allows him to smile and stare, "prove me wrong, and until then I can tell others it's true."

Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
If folks are looking for the swashbuckling gunslinger type I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed.
In listening to Drinkwitz interviews about what he wants most in a QB its about learning from mistakes and taking care of the football.
Given on how much he has leaned on the running game and his recent signings in the transfer portal defense would seem to be a major priority.
Complimentary football and physicality is what that sounds like to me and not so much chucking the ball all over the field just to satisfy some of the fan boys.
Pribula's ability to run to augment the running gam and extend plays on third downs would seem to be an extension of that philosophy.

Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
Did you watch him play last year against the better teams in the B1G last season and postseason? Or see his stats at least? He had fewer than 200 yards passing 7 times and more than 250 twice, against nonexistent Ds vs. USC and Kent. And he threw 3 INTs against USC. Did you see how badly he stunk against ND in the CFP? 12-23 for 135 yards, 0 TDs and 1 game-losing INT. And against Ohio State? 12-20 for 146 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT. Against Illinois? 15-21 for 135 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs. Against Oregon? 20-39, 226 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs.Barksdale's People wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 20:53 pmI’m not quite sure you are aware of Drew Allar’s standing in the scouting community.

He's at best a game manager who comes up small against better competition and in the biggest games. Check out a Penn State fan forum, and see what many think of Allar. His game-losing INT vs. ND in the CFP did not surprise them.
Now I'm hoping Pribula is a lot better than Allar. We shall see.

Yes, I did. As did the people who scout players for the NFL draft and those who write articles like the one I shared. I’m simply sharing a small window into the industry view of Allar to demonstrate that he does not in fact suck. You are free to side with the fan forums of the world as a basis of forming opinions, but there are more measured and unbiased views out there.icon wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 23:17 pmDid you watch him play last year against the better teams in the B1G last season and postseason? I'm free to side with the data on him. I laid that out for you and I guess you just ignored it. Again, he's a game manager at best who comes up small against the better competition. I showed you the data. So scouts like him. I don't know why. Perhaps on measurables but not on performance.Barksdale's People wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 09:26 amYes, I did. Whatever, he is not our problem. And I hope the guy we got is a lot better.
Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
He is also partially only as good as the scheme. Penn st has a conservative offense that won’t allow for gaudy numbers, even if the QB was capable. I don’t think Allars starting over Pribula is an indication that Pribula is going to suck. He seems like a good fit for Mizzous scheme. We’ll all see come the fall. He’s got a big game in week 2 against a veteran qb that will propel him in one direction or the othericon wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 09:58 amI'm free to side with the data on him. Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
Maybe Allar does suck. But right now he is considered by all the pundits to be the best quarterback in the BIG. I love Brady. Always did. But Pribula is Brady plus. He will be a great qb at Mizzou. It's up to Drink to make sure the trenches compete in the SEC.
Re: What’s people’s take on Pribula?
We're basically going to become Iowa's offense. Watch the WR recruiting dry up quick.

If Pribula had signed with another SEC program, then trolls like icon and notmizzou would be clamoring about the Tigers missing out on him.Barksdale's People wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 09:26 amYes, I did. That data does not say he sucks, even the cherry picked data you laid out. I do understand message boards thrive on hyperbole though so it’s no surprise to see someone parrot that language on topics with which they are unfamiliar.icon wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 09:58 amI'm free to side with the data on him. That's fine if he can hit the deep man when he needs to. A running QB that can hit the deep pass should open up the field to keep chains moving. If Brady could have thrown more accurately past 20 yards he would have been close to elite, imo.11WSChamps wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 21:12 pm If folks are looking for the swashbuckling gunslinger type I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed.

No argument there.
An effective running game should provide two or three mismatch one on one opportunities during a given game.
Whoever the QB is will have to take advantage.
