Re: Gray
I suspect his health is fine.
Have you seen him pitch?
He is one of the most max-efforts starters in MLB.
I have no doubt he is holding back a bit until the season begins.
He knows how to get himself ready.
Re: Gray
Had his last start today and was throwing 91. Waiting til OD to ramp it up isnt a great idea, by now he should be ready to go. Hes toast.
Re: Gray
I was on here the day Mo signed him saying paying your #1 pitching $$ to a 34 yr old 5’10 170 guy who has trouble staying games ain’t so smartalw80 wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025 20:17 pmHad his last start today and was throwing 91. it's one thing to keep drafting smallish RH college seniors (did this a lot for several years).
it's another thing to give BIG BUCKS to a smallish, not young RHer

Re: Gray
Until proven wrong in the regular season I'm sticking w/the veteran working on some pitches this spring and d a m n the results.
I'm just hoping he's not hiding a (minor) injury.

Re: Gray
Gray is obviously hurt. The truly incredibly irresponsible thing is the Cards enter the season with full knowledge of this and did nothing to add a veteran to cover those innings. Rookies cannot amass large numbers of innings without jeopardizing their arms. This is why keeping Gibson was a no-brainer. Goodness!

Re: Gray
He far from a big guy but, I'd put him at 180.Goldfan wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025 20:21 pmI was on here the day Mo signed him saying paying your #1 pitching $$ to a 34 yr old 5’10 170 guy who has trouble staying games ain’t so smartalw80 wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025 20:17 pmHad his last start today and was throwing 91. The attempt at the time was to obtain a #1. Usually that takes more than a 3 year deal.
I dislike how it is backloaded. It has a chance at being the Cards worst contract on the books.

Or he declined a trade option because he was afraid of failing a physical.ForumPolice wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025 16:39 pm The cards offered to test the trade market for him but he declined because he has no interest in winning so he's just doing his part to contribute to the culture at this point
