Let's hope my wife doesn't find out about this laser thing. I've got her believing I'm 7 inches! :D :D :D :D

That’s odd… she’s telling her girlfriends you are 5.5 !

He must be a humble guy who didn't want to overshadow Winn.

To this day, bbref lists John Kruk as 5-10, 170 pounds. He probably hasn't weighed 170 since middle school.
On some Sunday mornings Albert Pujols used to hit at the same Ballwin indoor cage that I took my son to.
We probably saw him take 200 swings over several weeks time. Great stuff.
My point is that I’m 6’2”, Pujols was listed as 6’3”,
His actual height was probably between 6’ and 6’1.

"Not a Mo or Marmot problem...it's a "History of MLB" problem...if it must be a problem at all"

Of course it is a Mo and Marmot problem. Billion dollar industry and cannot get basic player info correct? Regardless of what other teams do, the Cardinals should want to put for public consumption the correct info or don't do it all. Organizational and product pride should make them put the correct info to fans. Moreover, why wouldn't you??

Typically height data means zilch, NOW it really matters when potentially adding an automated ball/strike system to every game.

Did some digging and found out they all got laser measured for the ABS system.
I used the Wayback Machine to look at the roster before Spring Training and found several players shrunk.
Fermin is actually an inch taller.
Not listed means they stayed the same.

Pages 6'1" to 5'11
Fermin 5'9" to 5'10"
Gorman 6'1" to 6'
Winn 5'11" to 5'9"
Burleson 6'2" to 6'
Donovan 6'1" to 5'11"
Nootbaar 6'3" to 6'1"
Siani 6'1" to 5'11"
Walker is a legit 6'6"

Even pro baseball players fudge their heights. :)
Clearly it is the new uniforms.

Their shorts are bothering them.

This is huge IMO. It explains why Walker is so valuable he is a legit giant. Explains Burley lack of power. He’ll never be a home run basher at 6 ft. 6 ft 2 is a major difference. Height wise is a tix above an average Joe. Same with Gorman.

Donovan too. 6 ft 1 he should be able to send it all over the park and out of it. 5 ft 11 makes more sense.

Always wondered why Donovan looked short for 6’1

Similar story. I ran into Barrett Jackman at a bar. He's listed at 6' but was barely taller than me and I am 5'9"

On the other side... I walked out of a Mobile gas station as Kurt Warner was walking in. He was every bit the 6'2" he's listed if not more. He was huge. There's no way Brendan Donovan is only an inch shorter.

I suppose I can understand sports where physical contact or intimidation comes in to play…..but a 2b in baseball?? Perhaps even exaggerating the size of a pitcher….but Donovan

I saw Matheny and McGwire walking together at Frontenac mall and in passing Matheny wasn't much shorter, maybe 1 inch.

Was in line at Quiznos with Big Mac during his playing days…..he appeared 6’5 at that time
