Re: Any young player looked promising?
Herrera has a 1.162 OPS
Koperniak has a 1.039 OPS
VS2 has a 1.009 OPS
Prieto has a 1.159 OPS
Pitching wise
McGreevy has a 1.54 ERA 0.77 WHIP
Tekoah Roby has a 3.00 ERA 0.89 WHIP 2nd on team in K’s
Pallante’s last few starts have been better I believe
Mathews was great for 2 innings and pretty good in the breakout game.

Though JJ Wetherholt didn't have the numbers , he looks like he will be a good one with a sweet swing and smooth fielder. Also, the Cardinals are stacked with some excellent young catching talent. Though I have only seen a glimpse of Bernal, 19 yr old switch hitting cather, looked impressive.

It is difficult to find a catcher who can hit and play great defense.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:18 pm Though JJ Wetherholt didn't have the numbers , he looks like he will be a good one with a sweet swing and smooth fielder. If he hits I’ll take just good defense.OldRed wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:19 pmIt is difficult to find a catcher who can hit and play great defense.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:18 pm Though JJ Wetherholt didn't have the numbers , he looks like he will be a good one with a sweet swing and smooth fielder. not trying to be "That guy", so forgive me, but Bernal is 21 y.o....still young, though.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 12:18 pm Though JJ Wetherholt didn't have the numbers , he looks like he will be a good one with a sweet swing and smooth fielder. Is MCGreevy in the rotation?
If not, can someone tell me with straight face that Mils and Matz should be there ahead of him…….in the year of YOUTH
Seriously, if McGreevy doesn’t have a starting spot don’t talk to me about giving young players their shot any other talking out of both side of your mouths (bleep). The one really good young talent and they’re going to table him for old bad terrible contracts???

In order to trade them they gotta pitch them. Then McG gets his shot.Goldfan wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 14:50 pm Is MCGreevy in the rotation?

Re: Any young player looked promising?
They’re healthy, without a losing record, and a 6.00 ERA right now. Why does do people who want to trade a subpar player think that player will perform positively in order to increase trade value…..when the odds are they will suck or in Matz case be injured.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 14:54 pmIn order to trade them they gotta pitch them. So this season is actually the season of showcasing bad vet contracts who nobody wanted in the offseason but somehow a team will want them in ‘25?
If these all these old bad vet contracts perform at a High level, in theory the team will be in contention and in theory you don’t trade them……

Re: Any young player looked promising?
I think McGreevy will have a solid ML year. I wouldn’t mind holding his FA back a year by delaying his ML appearance a month. It isn’t like holding him back a month would prevent our securing the best record in the NL.Goldfan wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 14:50 pm Is MCGreevy in the rotation?
