Wow. Local “journalism” at its finest.
I guess they air this late on Sunday night so no one sees it?
This is just awful. It seems like the station doesn’t want to put any effort into it, so I wonder why they’re running it at all?
Beyond the technical direction being terrible (not even being able to switch to the right camera on time when introducing guests), the political pundits, who I’ve never heard of, sound like a bunch of high school students. The discussion is choppy. They have no rapport with each other and Mark is constantly cutting them off and switching to the next topic. Not that they have any salient insight anyway. But still, seems weird.
And then they have a commercial advertising a cruise with Karen Foss. It seems pretty absurd since she hasn’t worked for the station in like 20 years, maybe?
I’ll turn the commentary about that over to Pink Freud (Clark Kimble), where I’m sure he can write a 1000-word-essay about a time he waited on her at one of the restaurants he worked at back in the 70s.

Re: The Record with Mark Maxwell on Channel 5
OK, so I’m watching this again tonight, and maybe no one else sees this show …. so no interaction in this forum is understandable.
It’s still really, really awful. After I posted the initial post, I felt bad and thought maybe it was just an off night.
Nope. The interviews are bumbling, and the interactions are awkward. Both the questions and responses.
This is seriously hilarious, so I encourage any of you to dvr this. It’s like a high school interview show, on what used to be a respected local news channel.
Tonight, it was an interview with Alderman Daniela Velazquez. When the interview was over, uncomfortable pause for like 5 seconds, them looking around nervously, and Mark says “ok cool.” Then they finally cut to commercial. For real, it’s that bad.
