Not sure if anyone has seen Gen V, but it is also really good. The scene with the shrinking girl and the d, my god. This franchise has some of the most disturbing scenes ever. But they’re effective.

The BOYS is back! Anyone watch the first 3 episodes? Some shocking scenes (well, if it wasn't the Boys) and so far I have enjoyed them.
Watched last night. Still good but the writing/acting feels a little less sharp (I suspect the it's thin writing leading to wooden acting, but it's a chicken/egg scenario).
I also think they're running into an issue where our reality has so closed the gap with the parody/satire depicted in this show that it all just feels really on the nose.

It's only been 3 so far. It can still finish strong.
As Frank mentioned too, it's the same as watching Shameless, you get used to/desensitized to the over the top stuff. I mean in the first minute of S1E1 A-Train ran through a girl!
I also think they're running into an issue where our reality has so closed the gap with the parody/satire depicted in this show that it all just feels really on the nose.
Yeah, I agree with that as well. Love the show, so you know with it now officially ending after season 5, they will want to go out with a bang...or at least some major pink eye.
I haven’t watched, but if you’re a fan, I can give you a little trivial knowledge.
There is a scene where they have names on what appears to be three boards and they are moving the names about. I have no idea what the context is, but the names are soccer players, including Pulisic, who play in Europe. Apparently, they have some soccer fans.
Distinct sense of "trying too hard" is starting to set in... not only the hamfisted way they're cramming 2023 political buzzwords into every other scene, but also even the gore and gross-out stuff feels stale.
The violence/sex transgressions felt gleeful and mischievous over the first few seasons, but now they feel almost obligatory/rote.

I do think Antony Starr deserves a nod for his work as Homelander. Doubt he gets it, but he has been fantastic throughout.
For sure. His facial tics/hesitations are almost always spot on. He's the kid with the magnifying glass, and everyone else are the ants.
Final two eps are good (the finale excellent) and imo the season sticks the landing.
Only complaint is I watched Gen V too long ago to remember those character motivations. Also I suppose I find Sage's motivation to be disappointingly thin.
Finally, I'll say that I can't imagine how next season cannot be the last. There's no conceivable way to make the stakes higher than they are after the finale.
I thought the last episode was pretty great (minus a few minor things) and can't wait for how they are going to end things. Apparently following the comics pretty closely.
I don't quite understand Sage's motivation here? Either she knew it all along, or is just acting like she did. Man Huey was really out through the ringer this season! Yikes. Poor dude.
