So what would you do with Saggese ?

When Winn comes back. Saggese can hit. A needed RHB against LHP, at least. He plays numerous positions on the infield. Play GM.

Buh bye Siani. He's a great defensive player, but right now, we need infielders who can hit LHP.

I really like having Siani in CF in a close game late. But
Saggese is only going to get better as a hitter. I'd also give
Saggese a first baseman's mitt.

When Herrera & Winn are healthy you have:
Everyday locks to play- Herrera, Contreras, Donovan, Winn, Arenado, Noot, Scott, & Walker.
When you factor in the DH that leaves one spot up for grabs.
Siani- if on the roster he is strictly late game defense unless an injury. I guess he could PH in an emergency.
That leaves:
Vs. RH pitching- Gorman(2B/3B/DH) & Burleson(1B/DH)
Vs. LH pitching- Baker(least flexibility? DH only?) &
Saggese(most flexibility with IF and possibly corner OF?)
Of course those “locks” will require days off and the above 4 will fill in depending on RH/LH starter.

Siani is one of the few good base stealers too. Most Cards suck at SBs.

2 of Siani, Burleson, or Baker will be sent down to AAA.

Keep Saggese. Send out either Siani or Baker. Personally, I send Baker. Burleson and Donovan are the backups at first.

True
In fact he is one of the few actual “smart base runners” on this team! LOL
Does anyone coach base running on this team?
I thought McGee used to but now???

Siani is really the only backup center fielder. I don't want Noot playing center except in an emergency. The defensive replacement theory is not as significant with Walker's improved defense.

Agree
Pozo goes when Herrera returns although he has earned better.
Winn back it’s Siani or Baker.
Tough call:
Siani gets the nod for defense, base running, and bunting.
Baker has no place defensively in the field but they are short on RH bats.

I think Baker wouldn’t have a place once Winn/Herrera are back. We have a good amount of RH bats even without him:
Herrera
Contreras
Saggese
Arenado
Winn
Walker
Really there is little need for both Baker and Burleson. And honestly probably neither should be on the roster.

I don't know why you repeatedly stayed that Baker has no position. He plays first base, and has done so this year, and he has been serviceable to decent.

Agreed, except I cannot see them pushing down Burleson so fast.
Siani - He's a luxury defender + base runner. Maybe too luxury. Aside from a couple of months last season, he can't hit (even in the minors before).
Baker - He's got power, but hasn't shown it in the BIGS, except this past spring training. He's 28 and only plays 1B. We've got a handful of 1B guys now, including
Saggese who played 1 game in AA at 1B for 9 innings.
Burleson - After a strong pre-all star start of 2024 (0.814 OPS, 17 HRs), he's reverted back to being bad offensively in the latter half (0.626 OPS, 4 HRs).
Despite being a "contact hitter", he's never been much of a high average guy or OBP guy. He showed middling power last year (20 doubles and 21 HRs), but in 547 ABs, that's not especially impressive corner outfield production. He's also minus with the glove and baserunning. That's based on both personal observation as well as advanced metrics.
I've never been super high on Burleson, but he's shown potential to be good early last season. He will have a longer lease IMO.
