Free-agent pitcher Michael Lorenzen and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a one-year deal worth around $7 million, pending physical, according to sources familiar with the situation. Lorenzen is going to be in the Angels’ rotation.

Jed might have to start taking Andrew Friedman's advice.
"If you're always rational about every free agent, you will finish third on every free agent."

That was exactly my thought. The Angels are a joke. They have 2 of the best and most dynamic players in the history of baseball but they cannot make the playoffs.

don't recall this guy at all despite him being in division with cards. so he was basically a relief guy and wannabe OFer? had lousy year with reds last to sign for that kind of money.

I don't dislike this signing. Lorenzen wants to be a starter and has the stuff to do so, but we'll see. Good relief pitcher if he doesn't make it as a starter.

He's been around a few years. Known for his giant arms but also has been a solid reliever in past years.

seems like he should have had that opportunity with Reds as they need starters for next season. He is from anaheim tho and maybe just wanted a fresh start and play at home. uneverknow

With the Angels quality in position players and not even sniffing at playoffs you would think they would have gone Gausmen, Wood, Gray, etc. They need a couple MLB quality SP to be competitive.

He's one of those guys that I always felt should have been better than he actually was. But we may never know...he's going from a bad franchise to an even more dysfunctional one.

Not Ohtani but did hit well for a pitcher.

They added Syndergaard already and have Ohtani. They finally have some young pitching as well in Suarez, Sandoval, and Barria. My guess is they'll add an innings-eater type to finish the staff off like Greinke.

Lorenzen was the guy who hit the homerun the day his dad past away. It was a big story on ESPN. He is a nice player and probably worth the money if he is utilized correctly, but if he is going to try to be a side show (play a position too) then it is a stupid move.
