The Quail Ridge Horseshoe Club will play host to the 18th Annual Six Pac Invitational Horseshoe Tournament. This prestigious tournament will include the top 16 World and State Horseshoe Men Champions from across the United States. The format consist of a sixteen man round robin consisting of 40 point games – eight on Saturday concluding with seven games on Sunday.
The tournament will feature 16 times Mens World Champion, Alan Francis, of Ohio, entering at an average of 89%. Two other top contenders are Jim Walters, Ohio, 75.24% and Tom Williams, of Maryland, 75.40%. The sixteen contestants entering the tournament have ringer percentages ranging from 62% - 89% making it a highly competitive tournament vying for the $4000 prize money.
In conjunction with the above event there will be another exciting mixed (men over 70 years old and women) tournament for the top sixteen horseshoe pitchers, combining the talents of women and men competing at 30 feet. The top pitchers in this category are 4X Women’s World Champion Joan Elmore, of Tennessee, and former 7X Womens World Champion Sue Snyder of Kentucky with averages of 83%. The tournament also features the Tennessee Twins, Marlene and Maxine averaging 80%. Thirteen of the sixteen contenders have averages of 70% or better.
This Tournament is cosponsored by Six Pac Horseshoes and Holiday Inn Express – O’Fallon. Spectators are invited to come and see the top horseshoe pitchers in the world display their talents on the horseshoe courts. There is no admission charge. While attending this event you will want to visit the National Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame and Museum at the same site which enshrines horseshoe memorabilia from the past 100 years. The air conditioned facility includes 16 indoor courts where tournament and league play is held year around.
