Over 260 excited Lafayette Industries staff, Board members, community officials and United Parcel Service volunteers came together to celebrate the accomplishments of local adults with disabilities on July 31st. This annual Lafayette event, held in Manchester, featured a free hotdog lunch and dessert, a water balloon "dunking" booth, and touring access to fire department vehicles for approximately 226 enthralled workshop employees.
"It was wonderful to have a business affiliate to help facilitate an event that celebrates our workers," explained Lafayette Board President Fred Wark. "As a member of the Board, I'm very pleased to have UPS join us."
Lafayette is very excited for the opportunity to partner with a major company like UPS in order to recognize the great work and dedication that its employees display while fulfilling client packaging and mailing needs.
UPS Communications Supervisor Cheryl Andrews remarked, "We are absolutely thrilled to be able to help a customer that is as richly involved in the community as Lafayette Industries. When we heard about "Hotdog Day", in true UPS fashion, we delivered! With over 20 UPSers spending the afternoon celebrating the employee recognition event, it gave us an opportunity to support our company policy of giving back to the communities where we live and work."
Community partnerships like this one, benefit Lafayette's employees by enabling opportunities to celebrate each individual's perseverance, skill-building and accomplishments in the face of any odds.
