Helmet Use Significantly Reduces Risk of Head Injury and Concussion
Meyerkord & Meyerkord, a St. Louis based personal injury law firm, has joined Easton Bell’s Safe Kids program to give away bicycle helmets to St. Louis children whose families can’t afford one.
Meyerkord & Meyerkord will give away 50 youth and 50 child Easton Bell True Fit bicycle helmets at the firm’s offices in historic Lafayette Square at 1717 Park Avenue on July 25 between 10:00 am-2:00 pm.
Attorney and Managing Partner Geoff Meyerkord said the campaign is focused on head trauma prevention and the severity of concussions which have historically and incorrectly been viewed as minor injuries. Meyerkord pointed to an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety study indicating helmet use reduces the risk of head injury in bicycle accidents by 85 percent.
“We are pleased to partner with the Easton Bell’s Safe Kids program to provide high quality bicycle helmets for St. Louis kids in need this summer and hope our efforts help reduce future head injuries,” Meyerkord said.
