OLD COMPUTERS OR SCRAP ITEMS CAN HELP FUND CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

Charities welcome new funding source. Outdated or broken technology items and scrap taking up space in your garage or basement will fund children services when properly recycled.

Charities are feeling the effects of our current economic conditions.  Technology and scrap recycling is an innovative source or revenue to fund worthwhile Children’s programs.  Landfills in our community will be spared additional debris by salvage and recycling.  Consumers and businesses can dispose of technology items, electronics, and equipment free of charge during the recycling drive.  Proceeds from the salvage value of these items will benefit the Optimist Club of North St. Louis County children’s services efforts.

On July 21st and 22nd the Charlestowne Plaza Shopping Center will host a community recycling event.  The Charlestowne Plaza is located on the southwest corner of Jung Station Road and Highway 94 in St Peters, Missouri.  The hours of collection are 10 am to 4 pm Saturday and 11 am to 4pm Sunday.

Some of the items for free collection include: computers, laptops, netbooks, cell phones, printers, faxes, CD/DVD/ drives, hard drives (data destroyed to DOD standards), scanners, copiers, network gear, telephone equipment, cables/wire/cords, scrap metal, office equipment, industrial equipment, medical equipment, LCD monitors, LCD televisions, water heaters, appliances and consumer electronics.

Fluids, hazardous materials and lead acid batteries are excluded for safety reasons.  Also items such as refrigerators and air conditioners must be excluded because of the coolants contained within.  Cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors and televisions are subject to a disposal fee.
