Angel Food Ministries Available in St. Louis

Angel Food Ministries, a non-profit, non-denominational organization based out of Monroe, Georgia is being offered to Kansas City and surrounding communities through churches and other non-profits serving as host sites.  Angel Food Ministries is a bulk-purchase food program with distribution serving 500,000 customers each month all across the United States.

Angel Food Ministries has established a regional office in Rose Hill, Kansas, whose Ministers of Outreach are Jess Bielby and staff members Jeff and Stacy Grate.

The philosophy is simple: Buy food in bulk to keep grocery costs down. Angel Food creates boxes of wholesome food, offers those boxes for order at costs lower than at retail grocery stores, and delivers them once a month to 5383 host sites (mostly churches) in 45 states. When the food arrives, volunteers group the food into orders for customers to pick up.

Angel Food Ministries is a 501(c)(3) organization that began in 1994 as the ministry of Emmanuel Praise Church. Both were founded by and are the life work of the Wingo family: CEO and Pastor Joe Wingo, his wife Pastor Linda Wingo, and their son Pastor Wes Wingo. "I think their first distribution was 34 boxes. Pastor Joe just felt God told him there would be a time in our nation when the program would be needed. I think we're there right now," said Bielby.

"I've had a very good response as to the quality and the quantity of food," Bielby said. "What Angel Food sends is very generous for the price."

Participants may sign up each month by going to a local host site, by calling 1-888-819-3745 or by visiting www.angelfoodministries.com. Orders may be purchased with a credit card or debit card online.  Consumers may also use their Link Card or Snap (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) card when paying on-site. Cash is also accepted.

Anyone can order, regardless of income level or address, and home delivery may be available. Please check with a local site for details.  Unable to find a host site near you? Call 877-409-3663 for assistance.

Angel Food Ministries has a lot of new units to offer, such as a convenience meal box (perfect for seniors and people on the go), a Just-4-Me After-School kids box, and an allergen box. Said one customer, “The unit I got had items to make several meals without having to go out and buy items ... a good variety of items and items I'll eat."

For May, fourteen different food boxes are available from the Bountiful Blessing Box for $46 to the Just 4 Me Kids Fruit and Veggie Box for $17.  The Bountiful Blessing Box contains approximately 19 items and is designed to help feed a family of four for about a week or a single person for about a month.

Various specials are also available, including a 5 lb. New York Strip Steak package for $26 and a Premium Fresh Fruit and Veggie box for $24.

One aspect of Angel Food Ministries we are particularly excited about is the No Child Goes Without Program. We purpose to work closely with schools, child advocacy programs and other organizations to ensure children are receiving proper nutrition in the days and hours when school is not in session. Donations can be made through the Angel Food website or a local host site for the purpose of purchasing boxes to be given to children. Keep it local by donating directly to a host site.

The Sponsor a Soldier program works in much the same way as the No Child Goes Without program, except the focus is to bless our military families.

Becoming a host site is very easy. Please visit www.angelfoodministries.com or call 1-877-409-3663 for more information.
