Missouri is in a desperate state of emergency health wise. The obesity rate has reached an all time high and continues to skyrocket beyond belief. The Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation ranked Missouri as the 11th fattest state in the country. Many people are sadly losing their lives because of the obesity epidemic.
A local church in St. Louis MO is taking matters into their own hands. Located near the Central West End, Christ Deliverance Ministry is on a quest and mission to help people live and thrive. They began fighting the obesity epidemic and health crises within their own church last year. CDM encouraged members and residents in the community to participate in their fitness challenges.
“Once we started within, we began to achieve amazing results. Through the course of 12 months, we have a total of 17 people with a weight loss of 683 lbs!!! Their ages range from 21-70 years old,” explained Pastor Cynthia Ringo. “With these amazing results many people were able to get off of certain medications and are now able to be more productive in society. Most importantly they are alive!”
After witnessing how many people were able to transform their lives, CDM was inspired to grow their fitness challenge. They believe that the fight against obesity can be successful throughout St. Louis. Pastor Ringo states that “It is vital and important to fight obesity within our local community. We can help rectify the situation one person at a time!”
