Give clutter-free gifts this Valentine’s Day

Professional Organizer in St. Louis offers Do's and Don'ts of gift-giving

St. Louis, Missouri – “Everyone has heard the story about receiving a not so loved gift on Valentine’s Day. The undesired gift tends to take up space in your house or lands in a box to be stored in the attic forever” said Lisa Tella, owner of Neat Chic Organizing. She warns guys and gals, avoid giving things all together. “Go clutter-free this Valentine’s Day.”

Neat Chic Organizing offers residential organizing services in St. Louis and is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO). During February Neat Chic Organizing recommends five “do’s” and five “don’ts” for giving clutter-free, but heart-filled gifts to your honey-bunny.

DO’S

1. Give a service. Women love pedicures, manicures and massages. Men dig car washes and gift certificates for electronics. A Netflix subscription is an endless supply of date nights.

2. Gift an experience. Try movies, paintballing, a fancy dinner or ice skating.

3. Use your skills. Whip up an amazing meal or bake a favorite dessert.

4. Give your time. Take mom to lunch or organize her garage. She’ll appreciate it.

5. Give in honor. Donate to the Haiti earthquake relief; most of us already have everything we need anyway.

DON’TS

1. Avoid using paper items such as greeting cards and wrapping paper.

2. Don’t give soaps, perfumes or lotions. She probably already has enough for a lifetime.

3. Steer clear of buying clothes. Don’t assume you know your lovers style or size.

4. Little knick-knacks and chotskies are the worst. They’ll end up in storage or the trash.

5. Don’t re-gift. If you don’t want, they probably won’t either.

If getting organized is something you are serious about, hire an expert. A professional organizer enhances the lives of clients by helping individuals take control of their surroundings, their time, their paper and their systems.
