Kirkwood High School Alumnus Jeff Melcher Elected to Kansas State Senate

LEAWOOD, Kan. – November 7, 2012 – Jeff Melcher, a Kirkwood High School Alumnus, announced today that he has won his campaign for Kansas’s 11th District Senate seat. Melcher will formally accept his seat during an inaugural ceremony on January 21, 2013.


A current resident of Leawood, Kansas, Melcher is a 1978 graduate of Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Missouri. Melcher attributes his positive experiences in public school districts as the starting point for shaping his belief in the value of public schools and the importance of building strong, effective public school systems.


A serial entrepreneur, Melcher has a record of more than 25 years of launching and leading successful businesses. Melcher currently serves as the CEO and co-founder of NetStandard Inc., an industry leader in strategic business technology solutions based in Kansas City. Melcher is an expert in operational efficiency, and his consultative approach to business operations will help him deliver keen insight into the challenges and opportunities facing business leaders today.  


Melcher’s election to the Kansas State Senate follows his earlier achievements in the state. In 2011, Melcher was appointed by the Kansas Legislature to serve on the Johnson County Charter Commission. He was also selected to serve as a panelist on Gov. Brownback’s 2011 Service Sector Summit to review Kansas tax policies and their impact on state economic growth. Melcher was also a member of the Agency Outreach Team during Governor Brownback’s Transition and serves on several local Chamber of Commerce legislative committees as well as on the Kansas State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
