City of Olivette Welcomes New Fire Chief

 

                The City of Olivette Fire Department located west of the City of St. Louis in St. Louis County and covering about 3.5 square miles with a population of 7,573, is pleased to announce Mr. John Bailot as new Fire Chief.  

 

                With over 20 years of experience in the Fire Safety industry and a Master's Degree in Public Administration, John Bailot comes well equipped to lead as Fire Chief with responsibilities such as understanding City policies, procedures and operations while providing leadership in planning, organizing and directing the activities and operations of the Fire Department.  These activities include fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, emergency/disaster preparedness and management in addition to coordinating efforts with other City departments and outside agencies.  Other important tasks involve providing highly accountable and complex administrative support to City Manager, Mr. Michael McDowell. 

 

                Mr. Bailot's many honorable distinctions comprise of Certified Fire Investigator, International Association of Arson Investigator, State of Missouri Licensed Paramedic, and Certified Fire Code and Building Official.  Affiliations include St. Louis County Hazardous Materials Chairman and Commander, St. Louis County Local Emergency Planning Committee, International Association of Fire Chief's, National Fire Protection Association, International Code Council, Fire Marshal's Association of Missouri and International Association of Arson Investigators.

 

                Mr. Bailot's past experiences and skills correspond well with the dedication of the Olivette Fire Department in enhancing the quality of life for residents and pledging to protect and preserve both life and property.  As Deputy Chief for the past seven years in Kirkwood, Missouri, Mr. Bailot is prepared to direct the Olivette Fire Department in providing prevention, education, and emergency and support services as well as utilizing new technologies to meet the dynamic needs of Olivette.

 

                Olivette Mayor Jean Antoine is confident that Mr. Bailot will excel at these and other responsibilities and is "pleased to have someone of this caliber joining our already outstanding Fire Department".
