New, national retailers flocking to St. Charles County, Mo.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (August 30, 2012) --- A wave of national retailers and restaurant chains are making their debut in St. Charles County, and bringing with them more than 600,000-square-feet of new construction and renovated space.

These companies are being drawn by continued growth in the local population, strong household income levels, and steady increases in consumer spending, local officials said.

Major chains opening for the first-time in the area include:

· CVS – an integrated pharmacy company with more than 7,300 locations (NYSE: CVS)

· hh gregg – a retailer of home appliances and consumer electronics with over 190 locations (NYSE: HGG)

· Menards – a family-owned home improvement retailer with 270 locations

· Ross Dress for Less – an off-price apparel and home fashion chain with 1,037 locations (Nasdaq: ROST)

With a total footprint of nearly 250,000-square-feet, the Menards under construction at Mexico and Spencer Road in St. Peters is the largest new development in this wave of new retailers entering the local market. The store is slated to open spring 2013.  Menards is also planning to build another location next year in O’Fallon on Highway N across from the Shoppes at Hawk Ridge in Lake Saint Louis.

hh gregg just opened a 34,115-square-foot store in space formerly occupied by Ultimate Electronics in the Crossings at Mid Rivers in St. Peters.

CVS has been busy building three locations in the community, each sporting 13,225-square-feet.  One is now open at Highway 94 and Woodstone Blvd. in St. Peters, and others are nearing completion at Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Mexico Road, and at Highways N and K in O’Fallon.

In Wentzville, the area’s first Ross Dress for Less will open an 11,648-square-foot store this fall.

Several national restaurant chains are also making their debut in St. Charles County.  At the Streets of St. Charles, 5 Guys Burgers and Fries is now open, and work will finish soon on Tucanos Brazilian Grill and Prasino.  Elsewhere in St. Charles, a Hendricks BBQ is opening soon on South Main Street and plans are underway for a Dunkin Donuts.  In O’Fallon, Golden Corral is about to open a 11,648-square-foot restaurant at Mexico Road and Highway K.
