My Name is Ardell Taykowski and I'm the president of a locally owned barter company in St. Louis called Absolute Barter Company. I have been in the barter industry since 1999, helping business owners save thousands of dollars per year by trading what they have for what they need and want.
After working for another barter company here in St. Louis, I knew I could "do it better". My dream was to offer St. Louis business owners the best barter company in town. I listened, I learned and then finally, I reacted.
My only problem was, I was living paycheck to paycheck and had no savings. Sound familiar? Well, that didn't stop me because I already knew...there was barter! I started my business from home the morning I walked away from my job! I called some of the trading clients I had business relationships with and explained I wanted to start a barter company. All 22 of them jumped on board to help with my dream. Today, three years later, ABC has nearly 250 trading partners and is growing every week!
Some of the things I needed to get started were my Attorney to set up my company, Graphic Designer for my logo and business card set-up, Brochure Design for networking, Printing for my business cards and brochures, Website Design, Accountant, Signage and so much more! With all of this, I was now a business! All I had to do now was network, educate business owners on how the barter system was "meant to be" and show the benefits! Easy!
I have reintroduced how the barter system was (and still is, in other areas) set up for the business owner, which somehow, "got away" in the St. Louis area. We are the only barter company in St. Louis using the original barter system, but one of thousands nationwide. The "corporate" networks are buying up small trade exchanges and adding "their fees" and changing the barter system to benefit the corporation, and not so much for the business owners who are trading.
