Design/build project will provide new home for growing company

ST. LOUIS (Jan. 23, 2008) - McGrath & Associates, Inc., a St. Louis-based general contractor and construction manager, is the design/build contractor for a new manufacturing facility and the corporate headquarters for the Sev-Rend Corporation in Collinsville, Ill.

The $3.6 million project is a 45,000-square-foot "tilt up" concrete construction and will provide the office space, manufacturing facilities and expansion room for Sev-Rend, the St. Louis-based manufacturer of high-performance packaging products.

"For Sev-Rend, tilt-up construction is the best solution. It's a cost-effective style for large buildings and is perfect for the company's needs," said project manager Scott Olson of McGrath & Associates. "We are delighted to be using our expertise to create a new manufacturing facility that will house the company's current operations and allow for expansion as their business grows." The project offers McGrath opportunities to provide planning and management of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection features in the overall construction.

For Sev-Rend owner and president, Rob Williams, the decision to move the company from its current home in a 112-year-old downtown St. Louis facility to a brand-new, custom-designed facility in Illinois was not difficult. "The land value in Illinois is better and with several employees living on the Illinois side, we decided it was a good move for the company." Sev-Rend will receive tax increment financing for relocating to Collinsville.

The facility will be located at 5301 Horseshoe Lake Road in Collinsville, Ill. McGrath is the general contractor for the design/build project, and Oates Associates is the civil engineer; Dial is the architect. The project is financed by Commerce Bank and is scheduled for completion in July 2008.
