Scarlett Garnet launches new jewelry line inspired by the Black Forest with a witch themed party.
St. Louis, MO - Saturday, October 20, 2012
Scarlett Garnet Jewelry and Kansas City-based For Strange Women will celebrate the launch of their collaborative work, Black Forest Amulets and Earrings, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Scarlett Garnet Jewelry Boutique at 2619 Cherokee Street. For Strange Women’s solid perfume lockets are combined with Scarlett Garnet’s signature cut metal to create the Art-Nouveau inspired Black Forest jewelry.
Attendees will be spellbound when they get a first look, and smell, of the the Black Forest series, purchase herbal “potions” from the ReTrailer Tea Truck, and have their tarot cards read by an experienced medium.
The event coincides with several art gallery openings and outdoor music events on Cherokee Street, at venues PHD Gallery, Fort Gondo Gallery, Apop Records, and Art Monster, allowing for an all-day experience in the South City arts district.
Jill McKeever, of For Strange Women, concocted four new scents for the line from purely botanical and natural oils, capturing the solid perfumes in lockets molded from vintage jewelry. Intricately cut metal designed by Garnet Griebel and Katie Miller, co-owners of Scarlett Garnet Jewelry, frame the lockets to create the amulets, with titles such as “Weeping of the Willow Amulet” and “Morning Glorious Amulet.” Amulets are believed to protect the wearer through the metaphysical properties of the gemstones, metal, and other natural materials. Scarlett Garnet completes the line with Art-Nouveau styled earrings cut into stainless steel and paired with gemstones and chain. Each piece is handcrafted in Missouri studios in Kansas City and St. Louis.
