Groupigg, LLC Turns Scholarly with Choice of Daily Deals Publishers

St. Louis, MO – September 12, 2011 - Groupigg, LLC ("Groupigg"), the number one white-label daily deals software provider in the country, announced the reveal of their Universities webpage this morning.  The goal of the new site is to bring college newspapers into the group buying industry on the publisher level instead of the typical merchant level.

Groupigg aims to provide D1 and D2 universities with the same software and service that has put them in the number one rankings among their competitors for the radio and tv industries.  Known in the group buying industry as the one-stop-shop solution for publishers wanting to run daily deals, they provide software, technical support, sales training, data analysis and customer service to all their publishers.

The college newspaper industry has been hurt by a decrease in sales and advertisements just like local and national newspapers have been hurt.   Groupigg will now provide these newspapers with a valuable resource to help keep their heads above water.  Each contract with a student newspaper has the potential to bring in an average of $42,000 quarterly in additional revenue.  For university newspapers hurting in today’s market, this is huge; they have the opportunity to create additional revenue using both Groupigg’s resources and their own resources without incurring a single expense.  This new site will allow universities access to the resources needed to obtain information about partnering with Groupigg and will help them take the next steps to become a Groupigg publisher.

College newspapers will have the option to source their own local deals or have Dealpigg source the deals on their behalf.  Groupigg also has established partnerships with huge national advertisers wanting to run national deals, which will help boost the sale of deals for college papers and drive traffic to the online newspapers.

"College newspapers are a form of media that have been slow to accept the daily deals model.  We feel this will help publications generate more revenue to compensate for any decline in print sales and will also be very valuable for college students living on a tight budget," said Joshua Jennings, co-founder and CEO of Groupigg.

Jessica Standfuss, the Marketing Coordinator and Director of Collegiate Publications said, “I’ve noticed a small percentage of universities have tried the merchant-side of daily deals (roughly 21%), but few have actually taken on the role of publisher.  This was a huge factor when we decided to run a program completely dedicated to college newspapers.  We [Groupigg] partner with media companies in television and radio who have seen successful results so we know student newspapers, especially with their targeted readership, will be benefit from our product.”

The white-label solution offered by Groupigg allows media outlets, like online college publications, to enter the daily deal market with a site built around their brand without the challenges of building and maintaining their own technology platform.  This software solution also enables universities to do this without any start-up cost, or costs later on down the road.  To visit the Groupigg Universities page or sign up for deals visit www.groupigg.com/universities
